Jeff - they only replaced the clunking strut (driver side rear). I asked for both, but they said that at 10,000 miles, it wasn't necessary. The car feels as-new to the butt g-meter.

As for the brand new rental fleet Stratus... what a piece of junk.

My dealer uses a rental company down the street. No Subies... But at least they gave me a rental.

Default Who Else Can't Wait to Put Their Summer Tires Back On??

So did you see a part # for the new strut? I've been holding off on taking mine in until there is a real fix, now it seems like there is and just want to make sure they put in the new part.

Gumpajim - I posted the part number and link on page 1 (or maybe 2) of this thread.

Ronin - I know, I read that thread with great interest. Some cars never have it, some get it fixed once, and some get the clunk repeatedly. I am hoping that my car is of the "fixed" variety.

Update on my "Clunk":

I went to the dealer and told him I had a clunk, and that this is not out of the ordinary for this car. He went ahead and ordered a new strut, and will replace it under warranty. I also told him that I would be replacing the stock springs with aftermarket ones, and he specified that he didn't mind. So, I replaced the front springs today, and my dumb a$$ didn't mark the frikken alignment bolts!!! Debating whether or not to replace the rear springs tomorrow, or let the dealer do this. Either way, with 5700 miles on the car, they are gonna repair it.

I may have been happier with the Whitelines. The Cuscos are pretty decent at the softer rebound settings and don't feel bouncy. They also are a better setup for the track. Time will tell. It sure would be nice to get a few warm days around here. Everything is as hard as a rock in the suspension when it's cold and there is always some noise -- but -- no clunking! I realise that sound deadening adds weight but the STI has more road noise than any performance car in memory, especially in the rear. My Evo is relatively quiet in comparison, and I'm running Jic coilovers and lots of suspension mods on it. Go figure.

Take the front wheels off, loosen the two 19mm nuts, and use a ratchet to spin the top bolt, watch the brake rotor as you rotate the nut and stop when you have the most negative camber by eye. It wont be an exact alignment but you'll be pretty damn close.
As far as the rear goes just install them, theres nothing to align back there anyways.
hope this helps!!

Re part #, I just want to see if you got what we think is the latest # or maybe there is even a newer one. When I take mine in again I want to be sure to get the latest part #.

Thanks,
Jim

Bear alignment in western hills or performance alignment is becoming quite adept at doing alignments on the scoobs since we keep taking them there. You might want to give them a ring and set up and appt.

For reference I'm running -2/-1.5 F/R with 0 toe all around.

Thanks for the input on the alignment shop. Gonna get it done some time soon. Anyways, I'm looking forward to meeting you on Thursday for the bushing install.

I just had my rears replaced on my '05 the stock ones are black but the new ones are the pink (cherry red for everyone who is afraid of it). Apparently the replacements are pink for the 05's. Is it true that the 05 rear suspension is different from the 04. If so that could prove that the replacents for the 05 are different then the 04 replacements since there not interchangeable? Just and idea but not sure. Also many parts change with revisions and superceeding.
