I didn't have an issue going in for service with the pinks... Was not questioned one bit. Mentioned I had a clunking noise from the rear, got a phone call that the car would be ready, but would need to return in 2 days to replace struts. They were on order due to arrive in 2 days. Under warranty of course.

Subaru of Dallas denied mine due to "remembering" that they had seen pink springs on it in the past.

Sounds like the start of a good class action lawsuit.

Yeah, I have two friends who had their's covered by the same dealership even though they had pink springs. I mentioned this when I was denied, and I was told that this was SOA policy, and they were not aware of anyone else being covered. I choose to believe it had nothing to do with me being a girl...because I like to think that in 2006, we're past all that....but I can't find anything else that sets me apart from others who have had this problem covered by warranty.
Maybe there is a Subaru of Dallas guy on here somewhere who could help clarify?

Is there anyone who's just decided to deal with the "clunk" noises?

Default NHTSA.Com and Consumers Report

I have.......

But here's a thought. If we all go to NHTSA.com and start logging complaints against Subaru, NHTSA will issue an inquiry. We can also write Consumer Reports even as a non-subscriber and inform them of our issue. When they publish their reliability issue, they will mention the fact that a large number of owners reported unresolved rear suspension clunk complaints. Copy Subaru Customer Relations after writing Consumer Reports.
Betcha they "fix" the problem after NHTSA and Consumer Reports gets done with them. There are way to many vehicles with the same issue for this to go unresolved. IMHO.

Should there be a "sticky" encouraging this action?

Sounds good. Would flooding SOA call center in Cherry Hill, NJ work? They've helped me resolve an issue in the past.

Yep.....remember the "squeaky wheel gets the grease". Most customer service business' want the problem to go away. If it keeps coming back they will usually remedy the situation to the customers advantage. Ya just gotta stick to it!

Peace

I put white lithium grease on my right-rear strut when I was changing my stock springs to Prodrives.

Clunk has been gone for a week. Easier "solution" than going to the dealer, whining, and trusting them to replace the strut properly. No down time for me.

Yeah, the clunk is back. I'll be sure to try the solution innovated by Rev earlier in this thread.

I modified the original post to include Majin's solution summary.

My clunk is back also but I think it might be the other side. I would like to get the other one replaced before I start doing the Rev solution since that one has 30+k miles on it compared to the newer one with only a few k miles.

No problem for me. I've had five replacements, the first three were the red one's. I now have black struts on both rears and have no issues. Definitely worth taking to the dealer. Skagit Subaru apparently takes joy in getting to check out my '04 STi.

How do you know this? Is there anywhere that states this? I am out of warranty now and I just started having the rear clunk issue coming from the right rear of the car.

'06 STi with 19,000 miles, started hearing clunk on drivers rear at slow speeds a couple months ago.

Brought it in to dealership and they replaced it with no questions. They said they had seen one of these before on an '04 STi but couldn't remember what the fix was. They called SOA and were informed that the fix is to replace the strut.
