^^ aarrrrgh!! It's related to strut clunk... I had that something fierce as well as the turning clunk that Burns described.

Yep. It was very noticable during actions such as tight turns to get into parking spaces. During straight slow-speed driving, no noise unless going over bumps, which would cause the 'normal' clunk, and also when stopping/starting as noted above.

Get it to the dealer and get them to replace your struts. I'll bet that takes care of the turning clunks for 'ya.

I had the clunking in the rear bad. JUst go the struts replaced undr warranty and the car feels and sounds so much better. I can't believe I hadn't even realized how bad the car was handling until it got back to normal again. Hopefully these struts will last me for awhile

Mine were clunking and rattling - I took my STi into a dealership and they replaced for free. Both the rear ones were leaking. FYI the part numbers on the new ones for a 2005 STi are:

Strut CP R R (20360FE900)
Strut CP R L (20360FE910)

Default Rear strut clunk...I know, I know...

SO ,I just passed the ol' 9K mark and am starting to hear a fairly audible chirp coming from the pass rear area - more of a chirp than a clunk. I've actually heard it off and on since maybe 5K.

Anyway, my question is...What kind of grease should I buy to lube up the strut? Could someone recommend an actual brand and type as opposed to "lube or lithium grease." And maybe a place to buy it? NAPA? Wally?

Thanks!

BTW, my spanky new COBB bars have helped increase this lovely chirp noise since I put 'em on 2 weeks ago.

I'm around 15k miles, and out of nowhere i'm experiencing the rear stut clunk. Originally i thought something was not secured in the trunk, but it's certainily not the issue. I'm hoping the dealer will take care of me.

White lithium grease and NAPA will have it. BTW, you need to take apart and lube the Cobb bar bushings on a semi-annual basis as well - the grease fittings don't work for ****. Hit everything while it's up on a lift: it'll take you or the mechanic about 10 minutes to do it all.

one of the clunk posts recommended Mobil 1 synthetic grease, I got some at Autozone; Walmart did not have it when I looked.

The truth is you can use whatever grease you want. There's no magic to this and you have to continue doing it anyway.

What about replacement struts through the dealership? This clunking noise came out of nowhere after 15k miles on my car... i might mention it to the dealer when i get my 14 dollar oil change through them

Will he replace even if you have aftermarket springs?
