I've had both rear struts replaced under warranty (at the dealer where I bought the car). Recently, I had my front drivers side strut replaced under warranty (at a different dealer - I've moved and don't live near the original dealership now).

I didn't have any problem getting any of these replaced.
But I'm now wondering, how long until my last original strut (passenger's side front) starts to fail.

With 3 failed struts, it seems to me that the last strut will inevitably fail.
I have about 1 year and/or 20,000 km left on my warranty.
I'm almost hoping that the last strut will fail before my warranty runs out, so I won't get screwed having to replace it myself.

I might be going the local shop and search for some lithium grease in a spray can or something ... something that attaches better ...

In my case, my right strut hasn't had a clunk for the last 2 months since I lubed it with grease ... my left one is another story though, it clunks badly...

Given the fact that the struts are factory defective, taking it back to the dealer, waiting 2-3 days (?) for it getting it serviced is not worth my time ...
well, it's this much later and it's still not clunking, which, of course is good. Li grease is made in a spray can, i used to use it for quickie lubes on my bottom bracket (bicycle) and headset.

btw, i've got a white sti too.

I've had the strut clunk for about 1200 miles now(Coming from passenger rear). I now have 27,000 on my car. The clunking has gotten worse since I first heard it. At first it was at speeds below 10 mph, then I could hear it below 20mph, now I can hear it backing up or driving up to 30mph. Same issues as everyone else.

I hope I can have it replaced same day and not have to deal with a rental.

I think I just joined the club 3 days ago.
This thing clucks at low speed.
Gonna take it to dealer on monday.
But, EatV8 might help me to check if it's the pinks or the strut that caused the problem.
Keep you guys updated after eatv8 checks on it.

My STi is at the dealer for this problem. It is the left rear strut that is clunking. Subaru will only replace the one strut. I would think that on this type of car/suspension that you would need to replace both of them for even wear.

Went to the dealer, and they ordered the 2 rear struts for me.
And they didn't charge me craps yet.
I asked the guy if I had to pay, he said I was good to go. Did that mean that I won't have to pay AT ALL, or I will have to pay on the next visit?

So you took your car to the dealership and you had no problems with them replacing the rear struts. Did they give you S*** about abuse or driver error? I just joined this list I have a 05 w/ close to 10,000 and it just started this weekend (thats when I noticed it) I am going to the dealer tomorrow morning.

I believe I just joined this club. After a weekend of auto-x, my struts started clunking. It is more of a pop when I go over bumps or make a turn. It happens when I roll out of my garage in the morning. I have a little over 22k on the car and it seems like all four just decided to give up and start sticking. I guess it is time to call the dealer.
