Default ...WHY TAKE TO THE DEALER?

I have had my car fir 20k miles now. Never have I taken it to the dealer because it has had no problems. The Oil looks just as clean comming out as it did going in after 3k miles. Subaru has a 60K mile power train warranty. Do any of you feel it's worth the $350 20k Mile service. They inspect a lot of things I already have. I already changed my oil. I also Rotated the ties myself. Anyone else hate dealerships? I have not and will not take my car to the dealer unless I really have to.

Default RE: new signature-series STi

I don't bring my car into the dealership. Just document all of your maintenance, and you should be OK. I'm no lawyer so take this with a grain of salt, but if they require you to take it to them to do the service in order to maintain the warranty, they are required to perform the service for free. At least that's how I interpret what I read.

Its totally up to you. Although, $350 is relatively cheap comapred to other cars/dealers.

Default FS: FPGreen $1000 - Checked and Approved by Kingpin -MA Pref

Other than the 30k service on my 02 WRX (I did it because I was selling the car and wanted to document that there were no problems) and the first oil change on my STi (to have it checked out thoroughly since it was the first STi in my area and at the beginning of the production run) my cars have not been serviced by the dearler. I just go through the checklist in the service guide and do everything listed. I'm pretty sure I use more care than the dealer techs and if something looks suspicious I have a few experts give me their opinions as well.

look in your manual to see what needs to be done at 20k
if you feel safe about it, you can check it or leave it alone until the next service interval.

if you feel you would like them checked, go for it...it's what the dealer is for.
of course it is a lot of money, but you're paying to keep the car RUNNING and healthy lol
i'd give up 350 just to make sure my car is running good and i won't hit any problems.

I took mine in for the 30K service, but I also bring it in for every 3k service w/Mobil 1

The 30K they flush the coolant, change oil, oil filter, air filter, transmission fluid, inspect a bunch of stuff...basically its worth it IMO
