Default Oil burning warrenty issue?

so an 06 with 29,500 on the clock w/ stage 2

These past couple days when I start the car I am seeing a huge puff of blue smoke on start ups. almosts makes me laugh cause I try to take such good care of it. If I let the car sit for a couple mins and restart I get the same thing all over again and it is noticable.
I know this isn't normal thought I would ask you guys what you thought before i attemped anything else.
the oil doesn't even have 2000 miles on it since the change and i use 0-30w castrol. If i had to assume this was caused by something Id say the that wonderful launch control Great.
Would advice be turn back to stock and go to the dealer?

Yes.

Puff of blue smoke is not a good sign at all. Look for other symptoms as well.

I have 06 STi @19500 never had any blue smoke, running stage one and I do get lots of carbon on the tail pipe. I have been told this is due to the accesport. I would definatly return to stock and bring to dealer. Hope you didn't butcher those factory heat sheilds too bad, that seems to be the first thing they look at when trying to deny a warrantee claim. Might be worth buying new OEM heat sheilds just to make it look un tampered with.

Anything different than before. For example, rough idle, lack of power. Also, take off the engine oil filler cap and see if smoke comes out (let's hope not). I know I'm missing out quite a few other things to look for, it's not coming to me right now. Hopefully others will chime in.

damn this had to happen now. yeah I saved everything I don't think i killed the factory heat sheild to much, this should matter. I could just say i liked how this one look better no? I do notice when starting the car it sounds a little funny, could be the starter though or maybe me listening to much.
As for all the carbon yes I have the same issue, guess thats from it running so rich? needless to say I wish that was my only problem. what the difference being white vs. blue? White would be head gasket and coolant burning?
I only have this issue at startup no smoke there after or when i run the car, atleast non that I can see.
I'll be taking it to world subaru in shrewsberry, NJ. I have met the tech that works on their sti's there. He is a nice guy im sure he would look past a few things but i don't wanna give him any reason too. I guess this good thing for me is that i took this car as a lease and intended to buy, atleast that is on my side.

I don't trust any dealership as far as warrantee issues on a "sports car". I assume they are all sleezy slime balls and would give them NO reason to deny my claim, I also am not affraid to stand outside there dealership waving a sign that say's "THIS PLACE SCEWED ME!!!" if they don't treat me right. I save that comment for when I feel the cold essence of a "we can't warrantee this" coming my way. For Example my friend with an 06 limited wrx in NJ started noticing his car shifting at weird times, when it normaly wouldn't (limiteds are usualy automatics), he was stage two, all done profesionaly by my mechanic in large well equiped shop. No corners cut and a sweet install, this guy always goes the extra mile for me. My friend went to his dealer to get there opinion on his trans issue and as soon as the looked at his car they started using the phrase "heavily modified". There plan of attack was obvious. Mods = more power than trans was designed for= no warrantee and he was SOL. He ended up bringing it to another garage for some minor repairs. Just my opinion...

Pull the intercooler look for oil. I have seen this exact thing from a leaking turbo.

Ok ill be pulling the intercooler off on when I un-install stage 2. I know that when i did this the first time, I had a thin layer in there but i was told that is normal. I only get a cloud of smoke apon start-up though. I guess regardless of what ever it is they will figure it out, I just wanted to know what it was before I brought it back, a frigin mystery.
This just started after one rough day with the launch control.. ok I'm going to start this today when i get home, ill keep you all updated.

So after talking to rich at precision tuning.. he let me to beleive that its one of two things Possibly. one bad turbo seal, we hope or two ringland. This really sucks, because going back to stock he said if it is a motor he said they bring someone from SOA out and check for stuff done to the car first. So I assume they do a compression test and if it is the motor they will be looking for something fishy. Just how in the hell are they gonna know if I have taken the dp off or switched my software? this really sucks.

Yeah, hopefully it's not ringland. I read the SOA rep can figure out by inspecting the nuts and bolts, plus some other stuff i don't know of. Just to back to stock and give it a shot. Best of luck man. Keep us updated.

First thing SOA will want is an oil consumption test done.

To close this thread.. The car was taken to the dealer, everything returned back to stock. First time at the dealer the turbo, uppipe( was ratteling) plugs and gaskets were replaced. The dealer seemed to think the turbo was shot and just injecting oil into the motor.. took about 2 weeks got the car back. september 16 I picked the car up and with in the first 5 miles I had guge clouds of smokepouring out of the back of the car, as I turned around I called the dealer and to my suprise no answer passed 5.. great I think so knowing the car is fully covered I take it down to my friends house hoping the motor will just blow up.
The following morning I drove right down to the dealer and said its still smoking and running like crap. My service tech took the car right away and began testing. Originally they did a compression test and it was ok across the board. Well when he got it back this time they did a leak down and this is what turned the story. Three cracked ring lands and almost no oil left after not even 24 hours of having the car! ( which by the way I checked the level once I picked the car up*) the oil rings were shot and ended up ruining the motor to much to fix. SOA got a crate motor in- reused the old heads but cleaned them up and ajusted the valves. Also in turn they covered a worn clutch fluids were changed as well. and new O2 sensor
This all took about another month to get done. Since then I have put 1890 on the car and it runs great.
-Blackfang I don't know where you got your info but no oil concumption test was done.
SOA never came down to look at the car, the tech spoke to them on the phone only..
putting the car back to stock and gooing to the dealer saved me alot. Just goes to show not every dealer is out there to screw you. Thanks to everyone for their help.

I got it from my experience working as a Service Advisor and dealing with some of those similar issues. If you are burning oil and no oil leaks are present,no serious signs of smoke, then the first thing you should do is an oil consumption test to see if you are burning oil. Many times my rep will require that test. Now if there is smoke billowing out of the car or the engine bay has signs of it, then obviously you don't need it.

Not all scenarios require the field rep to come in. If we can find an answer and know the problem, we just call the rep and give him our findings to get authorization to fix it.
