IWSTI Addict since: Jan 2008 Trader Rating: (0) | So... I have a FMIC, CAI and TBE. the crank pully snapped my belt and now I need the belts and pully replaced. They said that my "heavy modifications" voided my warranty. What do you guys think? Do they have a case to say that my modifications "caused" the failure? Please help. IWSTI Addict since: Mar 2008 Trader Rating: (0) | This seems like a no brainer. Modifications increase power, this power is mechanically coupled to the crank pulley and thus the belt. Why does the crank pulley need to be replaced though, what is damaged on that? IMO in they have a very good case. |

IWSTI Addict since: Jan 2008 Trader Rating: (0) | good point about the pully... I don't know what could have broken on it... or how it could have happened. I'll have to find out. Maybe they broke it while taking it apart. Maybe they are sh**#ing me because I know that the belt was worn, the thing is in shreds. I thought that the belt just snapped because I have heard it slipping for some time now. |

What do you guys think, how do I go about going after these guys for telling me that? The salesman, sales manager and service manager all told me the same thing. Is there anything I can do? I bought it 8 months ago.

| Spec C Club | Unless you are a total newb to modifying cars, you know that you can force them to prove it was caused by your parts. I'd threaten them but then they will be out to get you. Don't forget to mention subarus promotion of the car with scca membership etc..and it can't handle some mods? BS |

IWSTI Addict since: Dec 2005 Trader Rating: (4) | did the pulley damage any other part of the car? or is it just the pulley and belt that were damaged? Cause a pulley is like 120 and the belts arent that much more expensive, you could just get something like a perrin crank pulley and install it yourself. |

That's the law. But, frankly, I wouldn't be overly confident about getting SOA to cover this without a fight. This ad is not endorsed by this member. Please register or login to hide this ad. Last edited by MikeBoom; 08-28-2008 at 12:29 PM.
