Thumbs up Bad wheel bearing how to get it covered under warranty.

Hey guy's I think my left rear wheel bearing is going out on me. Well I was looking on SOA Warranty section and under Powertrain warranty it states items covered and wheel bearings are under there how should I go about getting this item covered. Also does anybody know how to speak to the dealer as my car is Protuned with bigger tmic and all supporting modifications with some suspension parts springs/sways.

All help would be appreciated.

Wheel bearings have nothing to do with engine mods. Unless of course, they COULD argue that you were abusing it but wheel bearings go out pretty often on these things. I would just go in and tell them you think it's a wheel bearing and they'll diagnose it and take care of it from there.

So does it make noise while slowing down and speeding up? Makes like a light metallic grinding noise?

I'm curious, where's the noise coming from? and how does it affect the performance of the car?

Usually it's a grinding that gets louder as you speed up and vice versa.

Doesn't really hinder performance til the bearing seizes in the hub and well...you get the picture.

I'd get it looked at. Better to have it be just the bearing than have it trash the hub too.

The noise is like a humming noise like if a tire was rubbing the fender only happens at like 20mph and above and its pretty loud. So do they still replace parts under warranty even if I have 48,500 miles under the powertrain warranty.

I have no idea about warranties I only own an STi cause it's swapped in my RS. Why don't you just call and ask? But I imagine if you're under warranty there's no reason why they wouldn't, I mean that's what it's for right?

should be under warranty unless you have some crazy after-market off set. Power mods don't make a difference.

I'm actually taking my car to Carmax to have them fix my right rear wheel bearing. It said it was covered in my warranty. I don't know how they would diagnose that without driving it. Then again..I'm car-tarded and don't know much about them. Hopefully it doesnt requre him to, "test drive" the car. =(

So when a wheel bearing goes out should you change them both left and right bearings or just the one that is bad.

Subaru only pays for the defective part only. There shouldn't be a concern for warranty unless you have an odd offset wheel size.

Then I can't see why they wouldn't cover it.
