Question wear item warranty and some general questions

i was reading through my 08 maintenance booklet and here is a section that i had a question and wondered if anyone can help answer?

WEAR ITEM LIMITED WARRANTY

wear item coverage is 3 years or 35000 miles, whichever comes first. items covered are brake pad/shoe linings, clutch linings, and wiper blades.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

does the above mean that those items can be warrantied only when they fail. i mean a wiper blade? surely they dun think those can last 3 years? so would it be plausible to go in when those blades are no good and claim a warranty?

my next question is that i do my oil change services at a local shop not at subaru. is that going to effect my warrenty that i didn't do my oil changes there? im thinking not but you never know... i do keep all records of my oil changes tho.

lastly, one the maintenance service recommendation, it says to replace A/C filter on imprezas every 12 months or 7500 miles... i dun even use my ac much at all, is it really necesssary to change it? is the ac filter same as the cabin filter (sorry for the dumb question)?

tia~

Yes that means they can be warrantied when they are worn(i.e brake pads at 2mm, wiper blades not clearing windshield, etc.)

Not if they are done correctly. If the shop screws it up and causes other parts to fail or say they caused an oil leak, then you have to pay for that.

Dirt/dust particles can still get into the filter. It is recommended to change it, but many do not.

I have had a few come in where we changed their pads under warranty. I do plenty of wipers.
