| Spec C Club | Are the '07s experiencing the exact same issues as the '08? IIRC people have said they are the same problems. If so, do you think SOA will release a reflash for the '07 like they just did for the '08? |

IWSTI Addict since: Jan 2008 Trader Rating: (0) | When I bought my 07 Sti in December 2006 they pushed the extended warrant, I couldn`t help but laugh at the idea that a warranty let alone an extended warranty would cover the wear and tear of basically a race car turned into a street car…..I still get the giggles . Anyway I went to stage 1 around 1,500 miles and stage 2 around 8,000 miles. I added meth injection at around 9,500 miles. Its got around 14,000 miles and I just installed a Dom 3 and have an APS 70mm cai ordered. I did the break in somewhat easy….more giggles . I drive it like I just stole it . Mr WaniuszY, tear that "stealership" a new one . |

IWSTI Addict since: Jan 2007 Trader Rating: (0) | Mine blew last friday night at 32K miles. Stock from mile one. I towed the car to Harte in Hartford on Saturday and got the call on Monday night. "the motor is blown, we need permission to tear it down." I gave them permission and ran to XX for some advice. I have been dealing with the "hesitation" from mile 1000 and have brought it in for reflashes and other regular maintenance at the now defunct Rally Subaru. My opinion (for what its worth) and research from here, nasioc and tuners has led me to the following conclusion about why my engine blew up: Fuel map with a "dip" in it caused the ECU to pull more fuel or air depending on the point in acceleration. This in turn has caused the engine to burn hot causing the rings to melt or deteriorate to a point that allows oil to pass. Also, the fuel pump cannot compensate for the added demands as requested by the ECU to balance A/F... Running the engine for a long period of time (31K miles?) with these problems lead to the engine going "kerflooee" I am not an expert but these are the answers as I see them... to back it up, I got a call from the dealership today... The warrenty will cover the following items: Shortblock, Turbo, Internals and machining the head plus all labor. (Pretty much everything is "heavily" scored, bent or broken.) The warrenty will not cover the following item: Clutch... (Excessive wear and Bluing, which I can easily agree and attest to...) Soooo... for what it is worth, I am paying $800 for a clutch and am getting a new shortblock and turbo etc etc. Harte gave me little trouble except for the start when they claimed I ran it out of oil. I responded with "prove it". The second call was to inform me they had the SOA Rep on the way to review the tear down. Mark (the service manager) has done a good job so far. I have not gotten the car back as yet so I can't say much more. I am posting this in the hopes that my experience can help "you"... I fully expected to be denied and wasn't Best Regards, Newt This ad is not endorsed by this member. Please register or login to hide this ad. |
