I know this is a one sided arguement, but there is a patern of the 07s with this problem.
From what I have been reading and issues I have seen with SOA their first statement is mods or abuse.
Thats a great arguement since this is a STI and not bought or driven only to church on Sunday. I was always under the impression it was made and sold more as a toy to be modified for racing (WRC) wink wink.

You dont put ultra high performance summer only tires on a car that is to be babied as a daily driver.

If you want to wake up SOA you need to document absolutey everything and contact the media. SOA takes very seriously what is written in car magazines and would not like this smeared all over. I would bet if you contacted them (Car rags) they would be willing to send someone to investigate yours and others situations.
Before going to far this route I would try to contact SOA and work your way up the decision ladder.

I would be careful to only say what is truthful only and make sure its known that its your opinion only. A lawyer will fill you in.

Looks like SOA is willing to push everything to arbitration hoping most will back down. Call them on it.

Best of luck from all the 07 owners. At least in my opinion

see its things like this that makes me want to get rid of my 07,its ridiculous how they think people are going to buy these cars and not have fun with them!!! they need to wake up to the real world and be proud of what these cars were built for.they also need to take responsibility for mechanical failures that are not caused buy the customers.

Dam it, I hope everything works out man. This really sucks, I can't beleive Subaru can treat it's customers like that. Everyone in my family loves Subaru (dad: 05 forester, step mom: 07 legacy). The only trouble I've had so far with the warranty was when thay had to replace the CD player because of stuck CD's. They told me that it wasn't meant to play CD-R's, then thay said I put labels on my CD's that's why they got stuck (none of my burned CD's have labels). Finally they replaced it under warranty. I can only imagine what they will try to lay on me if I go in for anything major. Sucks too since I got the extended warranty. Anyway, I'm watching this thread for updates. Good luck dude.

I am still looking for one. Two of them turned me down saying it's not a whole lot of money for them and they wouldn't do it unless I pay $10 ****ing thousand deposit. This whole thing put me to the limits and my family feel it too. They should get a huge lawsuit and SOA should fire all those representatives that deny warranty not even knowing anything about the problem.

I have a 07 sti and sometimes I over concern when driving it down my drive way. I still have the loan to pay off and it'll be a b**** if something was to happen to the car while still paying it off. Your situation and many other situations found here and at nasioc and all over the internet make it very scary to even think about owning a 07 sti. I hope you get a warranty claim and that you and the family won't have to go through this for much more longer. Do keep us updated about this because the more I hear about 07 sti going out, the more I want to trade that sucker in and get a different car. Hiring a lawyer is the last resort because it'll cost you more in the long run compare to buying the parts and fixing it with some fellow iwsti and/or nasioc members. Ultimately, SOA will not budge even if you file a suit. They have a business to run so they will try every dirty trick not to pay for your lost. On the other hand, I wonder if the 07 sti with broken cylinder four were built around the same time? Or it doesn't matter because 07 is an 07? Cheers. Good luck.

The Cobb AP is supposed to correct the issue of the stock tune. Do you have an aftermarket air intake or a catless downpipe? Those are known issues.

You would need to do a compression test to verify that your pistons were going.

If I would have known that I would experience my first engine failure at 3k, only to get a replacement engine that had pistons in the wrong bores, (and a piston that had a bubble as well as an injector (the second one) that was not performing as well as the rest), I would have bought a used 06 STI at the time. I was so into the ECU and figuring it out that I just wanted an 07. Too bad I was one of the first to buy one and have it fail, then to realize there were others. Now it is on its 3rd rebuild. Warranty is out the window. Subaru cannot fix these things right (or they have a ton of defects). It is not just the crappy stock tune, but that plays a big part (especially on the motors that go in 20k+ miles). Each of my failures was associated with a hard part problem. Yeah I got a lemon. I just hope my motor holds up now or I may drive it off a cliff.

Also note that this is one of 4 Turbo Subarus I have owned and I have modded them all (tuned 3 myself as my 2002 WRX I just ran an MBC at 17 PSI lol). Only the 07 has given me these issues.

I blew Up my STI limited 2000miles after i bought it. STOCk. cylinder 4 from driving it on the highway to work. they replaced only that cylinder.. but they dropped the head and replaced it without telling me. Also they blew up the timing belt tentioner and warped the clutch when taking that apart. then cylinder 2 and 4 broke cause cylinder 2 had a bad injector and cylinder 4 because it hates me. Subaru said i didnt put oil in it. So i got mad built it myself and now it runs 28psi on a 35r all day with alot of research on the ECU side from gabedude. Next build will be running 35psi + on pump gas. But not cause the engine blew up
