IWSTI Addict since: Apr 2007 Trader Rating: (0) | Like I said, stock boost is 14.9 PSI peak, it is in the tables. Since Subaru used such a large O/L C/L delay, they had to use way too much WGDC and reign overboost in with large turbo dynamics corrections (proportional IIRC). The 07 STI tune (boost-wise) is very different than previous MY cars. They will overboost up to 18 PSI or more on the stock map, stock intake, stock exhaust, stock filter. I have logs to show it. That is 3 PSI of overboost. I posted this a year ago on that other forum. Unless the dealership has pulled a max PSI of over 19, then it is well within stock parameters (although those are bad and they tend to blow things up on the stock 07 tune). IWSTI Addict since: May 2006 Trader Rating: (3) | My suggestion is to get everything in writing. 1. The specific reason for the denial of the warranty claim. 2. What evidence they have to support that specific reason and how that evidence relates specifically to the failure you've had. 3. Whether there are alternative explanations for the evidence they're basing their decision on. For example - worn tires - could that be caused by the local road surfaces in your area? All roads surfaces are not created equally. Could it be explained by the type of roads you travel (e.g. hilly or curvy)? Or is the ONLY "possible" explanation that the car was abused? Same thing for the clutch. Could it be explained by poor technique by the driver in normal usage or is the ONLY "possible" explanation that the car was abused? 4. Specifically what steps they took to identify and recitfy the problem. This is all information that can be shared with an attorney if it comes to that. I'd also explain when you purchased the car, how it's driven and maintained, and the fact that you're less than halfway through the warranty period and you are very surprised the engine has failed. Hope this helps. Gary Last edited by upncummr; 07-10-2008 at 01:51 PM. |

I have to admit it was a little difiicult to master clutch since it's so stiff. I sure may have sliped it too much especially since I tried to keep the ride experience comfortable for my wife. Riding clutch is still not a reason for motor to break. Quote:

IWSTI Addict since: May 2006 Trader Rating: (3) | Good luck. I think under almost any circumstance they have an obligation to explain their decision and to document it in writing. That explanation should include how they arrived at the decision and how they excluded certain items as factors. The arbitrators will be interested in understanding their process, just like an attorney would be. Gary |

IWSTI Addict since: Jul 2007 Trader Rating: (1) | Believe me I'm waiting for the decision in writing. Want to see what kind of bullcrap they come up with. I want you to be sure I'm not giving up. |

| Amateur STI Driver | Last year my 07 limited's #4 blew. I only had 12k. SOG / SOA claimed the care was modified. It was not. I never drove it any harder than it was designed for. I had to pay for a brand new short block. AND they ripped me off on the block (I found out later - they sold it cheaper on ebay - but they wouldn't budge and held my car hostage). I paid $8k total and left and never came back. My next car will not be a subaru. |
