FYI, overboosting is the same statement issued to kingncsti when his 07 blew.
Service manager didn't describe any other piston damage but the ringland. Said cyl walls look perfect. I read his thread and will definitelly use it in my case.

+1 on the attorney. Ask around, try to get a reference from someone you know. This is the SAME thing Nissan did to me, but I just got tired of fighting it. Document EVERYTHING, every call, email with names and times. Get a timeline of service for your car and make sure it corresponds to the Manual. Get their decision in WRITING!!! Nissan told me one thing one time and then 2-3 other things as we went. Go through the BBB Autoline Program. Still under warranty, you have that right. Stay at it and be patient, it'll take some work on your part... Keep us posted and good luck from another 07 owner!

The stock car overboosts to 17+ PSI during shifting at times. I have logs. I have 4k worth of stock car logs, but they won't help you because I have no "proof" the car was stock when the logs were taken. I think Subaru is just tryign to deny as many claims they can on the 07's because so many have failed now and they are on the losing side of the coin. This doesn't mean it is right, it just means that unless you take your car to a dealer to get the oil changed, never swap out any parts, and do not race it, they might cover it. Still they can deny due to "abuse" if they "think" that the car was raced. Tough problem with valid warranty claims. I would just wait on SOA. They should take care of you. What they will do is get the Regional service manager to look at your case. Every dealership is supposed to have the regional service manager look at these failures and approve or deny the claim.

You can have the vehicle serviced anywhere you like, provided that they use the same specs for fluid/parts and it follows their interval. You can also put whatever parts on the acr you want. They have to prove that the part was the cause of the warranty claim.

The above is 100% law, covered under the Magnusson-Moss Warranty Act. However, as I found with Nissan, they can deny the claim even if all the above hold true. They would not be able to support it in court since they would need to prove that x part led to y damage.

All I have is dealer installed SPT cat-back and
He acted like he didn't even know what SPT was.

How can he not know SPT? This came with my manual.

Write down some notes about that conversation...If the service manager doesn't know about a part (common part, at that!) they sell, how versed is he in being able to deny a warranty claim? Besides, that's not how it works. 1. The dealership can decide to cover it themselves. Yes, they DO have the authority to do that. 2. They can decide to cover part. 3. The whole thing can go to SOA.

Seriously man, take notes and lots of them! Good luck!!!

Check into the Lemon Law if your interested. In CT if they have your car for "I think, 30 days" Subaru would have to reimburse you for the car. Or something along that. Theres a sticky about it somewhere here.

If not, I'd want Subaru to have it towed to another dealership. I wouldn't want my car being worked on by some asshat like that.

I would but wouldn't they have the right to charge me for labor of tearing the motor down, and the loaner car. By the way this is ridiculous that it took them 20 days to find out what it was. From time of car drop off to the time manager told me that.

I contacted my attorney that represented me on other case for referral. Will talk to them first asking for advice before calling SOA.

Please...can someone for the love of god explain how a CAI can cause overboost. Lean out with detonation maybe, but overboost...WTF? Especially an SPT intake...this seems open and shut to me. SOA has no case here...you installed an authorized SPT intake and they allege that it caused overboost...I just can't get over the stupidity of this statement.
