Default Chances of getting new headlight

Alright this is odd. Last week PA had some bad weather that ment the STI did not leave the garage. When I finally got her out there was a cocoon on my driver side headlight. I didn't think anything of it, and brushed it off. Well once I washed the car I noticed that my headlight was all scratched where the cocoon was. It looks like someone took a steel brush over a small spot.

I have never taken my 07 back to this dealership after the day I got it. Only has 7K on it in a years time. 100% stock. Very clean. What do you guys think are the chances of getting/fooling the dealership into replacing it under warranty?

What would be the best way to go about it? Honest story or lie and say it fogs over?

Any advice appreciated

If you tell the dealership about the cocoon incident, they will not warranty the headlight due to OUTSIDE INFLUENCE causing damage to the material. Nests or animal infestation/damage on the vehicle is not covered by the manufacturer.

I asume that the marks on the headlight is minimal, and does not affect the performance of the light. But if the damage was INSIDE the headlight unit itself, you have a bigger chance of getting it replaced under the warranty. If you tell them that it fogs up, they might want to duplicate the concerns first, or tell you that its normal--NPF.

I can't really give you a better reason on how to get it under warranty, sorry RuralSTI.

You can try some plastic polish and buff it out.

Yeah I knew it wasn't covered but I was going for the simpathy of the shop forman with the direct method. Around this part of PA dealerships are fairly laid back.

Thanks for the help

Then you can swing your chances on a high note then. If this dealership happen to sell used cars, and happen to bump into one of the same exact car that needs to be certified, they can bend the rules a little bit...if you know what i mean.

LOL yeah my dad has a chevy dealership and I worked as a lot boy as a kid. I know how that stuff works. Odly enough that Subi dealer just got a 06 STI in on trade for on 08 STI. hmm
