Default Question about Subaru warrantee policy?

I have some questions about Subaru warrantee policy....

Here I am, bought the STi for 2 month, and having a gear shifter rattling problem. So I figure, why don't I take it to the dealership and fix it.

My dealership service tech took a ride with me, and pointed where was rattling from, he suggested tied up the rear lock wire by zip-tie....

After 15mins later, he told me rattle was gone....

So, while I was going back to home I noticed the rattle was still there.

I took back my car back to the dealership, made some complaints about it, and service manager said, "Subaru won't pay for the shifter because all the Sti's making a rattle on the shifter.....If he has to order the new shifter, it will be on his debt!"

Hmm, I was thinking myself....is this guy for real?
So I told him I want to talk about it to General manager.....

Met with general manager, made complaint about the situation I had.....

Told me he will give a call back on Monday, since it was late Friday....

Today I've got a phone call from him, they won't fix it, and Subaru won't pay for it.....

I wouldn't be so pissed if they would have tried to take apart the gear shifter and investigate on the rattle.......

One zip-tie and ka-boom won't fix it or wouldn't install a new one? because

Subaru won't pay for it? out of 2 month old car??????

The funniest thing was General manager offer me to trade my car to other car....

Man my dealership blows........They wouldn't have a dime from my pocket anymore......

Is this reasonable warrantee to you guys? or encounter similar problem?

Wow, that's some dealership. Is there any other Subaru dealership around? If not, I'd contact Subaru, address my concern and also complain about the dealership. You shouldn't have to pay a dime for any parts or labor. We have bumper to bumper warranty for 3 years.

I would definately call SOA and report this and a call to the BBB about the dealership would not hurt as well.

Is the car still within 3 years, 36k? Is the shifter stock? If it is and within warranty guidelines, Subaru pays for the repair if it is a failed part. I do not have any customers complaining about rattling shifters, so I highly doubt they would consider that normal. I would definately call SOA and seek guidance.

Don't waste your time with the BBB, they won't, nor can they do anything anyways.

The only time I ever hear about shifter rattles is with people who have swapped out the shifter bushings with the Kartboy and TIC bushings. The stock shifter should not rattle and if it does it should be easy enough to fix without replacing it. It's most likely the reverse lockout cable rattling against the inside of the shifter.

It sounds like they didn't care enough to find the actual cause of the problem and just did a halfa$$ed job to shut you up. I would contact SOA about your experience!

I'm going to go to different dealership and try to resolve the problem...

Yes gear shifter is stock, car has 2500 miles, 2 month old, purchased as a brand new at 2miles. I've learned one thing....Don't ever buy a car from Go Subaru at Arapahoe if you are in Colorado because they wouldn't be careless about warrantee, and give out all sort of bull ****.....

If different dealership fixes the problem then I'll call S.O.A to make a complaint about it....this is almost ridiculous. Now they have told me there is design flaw on the gear shifter, so they won't be able to fix it neither change the part.....

If there are design flaw which I believe more than 10,000 cars sold in U.S, Subaru had to do something about it...(which I don't even believe there is design flaw anyway...)
Plus, at least they have to take apart, and take a look at the bushings, or investigate whether there is part missing....none of this properly investigated....Also, if there was a design flaw which will make customers' car shifters rattle on 2000 miles...they should have told to the customers and let them know about it, if the dealership wouldn't cover it within warrantee period....

I don't want to make a futile argument with my dealership anymore. I just can believe this stupid thing still exist in the U.S. Treating customers like a king when they purchase the vehicle, then trash them when they come to the service......making all sort of excuse to get out of it.......not acceptable......and very frustrated....giving all sort of mental stress........
