IWSTI Addict since: Feb 2007 Trader Rating: (0) | Hey guys, I've searched the forums for extended warranty topics and yes, have come across a few. However, most of them are 2-3 years old with dead links and whatnot. I thought I'd try a new thread. As I have seen, a lot of people don't even recommend getting the extended warranty. I suppose I want to get it just for peace of mind. My questions are... How much would be considered a good price for an extended warranty? Does anyone have resources where I could find competitive prices? I'm looking to get a 100K warranty with $0 deductible (I did find a link to subaruwrxparts.com, but they didn't have any prices for $0 deductible). I don't really plan on modding my car heavily, so I wouldn't be voiding the major components. The car as it stands is just under 35K and the date for the car ends in April. All the printouts the dealership gave me quotes up to $2000+ for what I'm looking for. I plan on calling around to multiple local dealerships to see what I can find, but any help here would be great too. Thanks guys. This ad is not endorsed by this member. If you're buying it at the time of car purchase I think you can get the same or better deal. Just keep saying no you dont want the extended warranty to the finance guy when he tries to sell it to you until he finally goes down on the price. If you're buying it as a separate thing after you already have the car, I dont know how much that will cost. |

I don't see why I shouldn't be able to get the price under $2000 even after the surcharges, but I could be completely wrong. |

| Platinum Member | These are pretty much the best prices I have seen online lately: Subenet: Service Contracts Local sales guy, highly recommended. I believe you can purchase the contract anywhere, you don't necessarily need to work with a local dealer. Something to compare to anyway. The killer is the "STI surcharge $495" that kicks in on 70k+ plans. (note that is not included in the listed prices - you need to add it for the 70k+.) For that reason I would stick to a 5 or 6yr/60 - anything beyond that and the price just gets silly imho. Keep in mind this is not an extension of the factory warranty per se - you have to go through some hoops, if you have a problem there is a $100 "diagnostic" fee - if it turns out to be a covered item, you get it back, if not, well, you don't... |

IWSTI Addict since: Jan 2008 Trader Rating: (1) | thanks. good dealer "invoice" info to have. seems i got a pretty good deal on the 6/80k w/100 deductible for an STi (495 surcharge). i paid $1500 for it and it looks like, w/STi surcharge, they made $65. Since all they're doing is filling out some paperwork, that's a reasonable markup. |

IWSTI Addict since: Aug 2006 Trader Rating: (0) | sorry to hijack this thread, i figured it would be ok to ask in here, seeing its along the same lines.... I never purchased an extended warranty for my STi because i felt comfortable working on it for most things, and it is basically my weekend/track car. I'm curious in purchasing one for my recently purchased 08 350z, its my daily drivr and going to see more miles than my STi.....i was under the impression I had to purchase it on the spot, at the dealer. However, after reading this I feel thats probably not the case with most cars. So whats the deal, can it bepurchased later on? Like a couple years down the road? Obviously at probably a little higher price than originally quoted.... |

IWSTI Addict since: Jul 2003 Trader Rating: (1) | I bought an extended warranty from subaru when I purchased my car back in 03.. They had many diff plans but I opted for the 7yr/100,000 mile subaru gold plan with a $50 deductable.. I think I paid like $1,400 or 1,600 something like that.. But it covers everything, even interior stuff.. This ad is not endorsed by this member. Please register or login to hide this ad. |
