IWSTI Addict since: Mar 2007 Trader Rating: (0) | It is not that the dealer did the service wrong. It is the fact that they did not diagnose the problem correctly to let him know there was a problem when he brought it in for the 30k. The same could happen to you where you are doing your service do not pick up on something that is going bad. |

However, I can't believe some of the experiences that some of you all put up on here and wonder how the dealer gets away with that. On the flip side, I love how people hate us, but when they want something for free, they come to us and try to be our best friend. |

IWSTI Addict since: Feb 2007 Trader Rating: (1) | I spoke with Joe from Becker Subaru last night and he informed that SOA is honoring my warranty because of the service notes upon me mentioning about the dirty coolant and various overheating issues all well before the car was modded. Overall Im VERY glad Subaru is stepping up. I think it also helped that both my parents have purchased new Subaru's in the last year. I still dont understand why the dealership would so certainly deny my warranty only to have Subaru accept the fix? Why not just say "well have to see what Subaru thinks" first, before driving me nuts? I think its also worth noting that a leak-down/ compression test was never done but they are replacing a headgasket. Does this sound right? The syncros are also being replaced under warranty and Joe suggested that I have them remove all my mods so not to void my 9,000 mi left on my powertrain warranty. Now I just cant wait to get my car back on Friday. I miss the hell out of it and driving the beater loaner 97 Legacy L sucks! |

IWSTI Addict since: Mar 2007 Trader Rating: (0) | I am glad to hear that they are fixing it for you. The reason the dealer probably did that is they may have inexperienced Service Advisors. Only SOA can declined a warranty repair. The dealer can not do this and the advisors may not even know this. The dealership can deny the service, but usually SOA will get involved and make the final call. We all know warranty repairs generate less money for the Dealership than if a customer was to pay for the repair. I have covered repairs under warranty that had modifications done to the engine that another dealer declined to repair under warranty. You just can't say oh, you have mods so we are voiding this repair for you. Also you do not need to perform a leak down test to verify a blown head gasket. There are other diagnostic tools that a technician knows in order to come up with this. |
