Default Side mirrors stopped working?

Not sure if this has happened to anyone else, but my side mirrors don't adjust with the buttons anymore at all. either side. where is a good place to start? the car is out of warranty, so if i can cut out labor costs, that'd be great.

Thanks!

Start at the fuse box, and the owners manual.

If your car is CGM, I have a passenger's side mirror that I can sell you for $50 shipped to try and diagnose the problem. LMK.

If it's both mirrors then it's most likely the switch itself. But yea start at the fuse box and after that reconnect the harness underneath the console. Also check for any wear on the wires themselves. If you really get into it you can try swapping switches with some of the local guys.

yeah, its both mirrors so i was thinking switch rather than motors (hopefully).

i'll check the fuses first and any plugs under the dash...maybe i knocked something out while plugging in the test connectors for the AP.

i have exactly the same issue let us know what you find and in reference to the fuse i talked to a dealer and he said the fuse is tied into the cig lighter in the dash so if that is lighting up it it not the fuse.

Figured it all out today. Turns out the fuse was blown, like mentioned in this thread. It's fuse #4 ACC that'll blow. it's a 20 amp fuse located behind the coin tray, top row, 4th from left.

I put in a new fuse and the mirrors started working again. I tested out my phone car charger and it blew the fuse! So...that's why it was blown. I went and tried a 30 amp fuse out, car charger blew that one even quicker.

so i replaced it with a fresh 20 amp fuse to get my mirrors and acc port working again. i guess this new phone has a car charger that requires too much power and it won't work on the STi.

I was going to suggest that it was whatever you last plugged into the cigarette lighter that was to blame. If you ever looked at the back of one of those you'd see that there is some serious copper going to it. Cigarette lighter / accessory connector attachments can sometimes draw big amps.

You're very fortunate that it did. If it had not, and if the charger needed, oh, 28 amps, you would have fried your wiring harness. Never never nevernevernever put a bigger fuse in a circuit -- unless you want to burn your car (or your house) down.

There is no way a phone charger draws 20+ amps. Headlights don't even draw that much. The charger is probably bad, shorted internally, which is why it is blowing the fuse.

Glad you figured it out. I had the same problem after I had my navi installed and noticed my auto dim rear view mirror, intercooler spray, and cig lighter thing didn't work too. I just replaced the fuse with the mirror heater fuse... An sti with heated mirrors pfff!
