Default STI Gold wheels flaking off

Alright I bought my STI used with 19k on it about 8 months ago. At the time the wheels were flaking a little bit but didn't bother me too much. Now they have flaked off pretty good and its only 2 wheels.

I took it to Puyallup Subaru and they tried to tell me its because I dont wash them and there is pitting on the powder coat. WTF I wash my car all the time it just happened to be that I didn't wash it before I took it to them. I told them that and they were like theres nothing we can do its your fault.

My question is If its due to negligence don't you think it would be on all 4 wheels and If anyone has any advice for me it would be appreciated. by the way its flaking off in between the spokes and in the crevices.

Thanks

New Car Limited Warranty
BASIC COVERAGE is 3 years or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first. Subject to the exclusions listed in this warranty, it covers the entire car.

SUBARU.COM : TOOLS : WARRANTIES FOR 2006

there you go
negligence mentioned by the dealer is complete BS
I'm wondering if your car was in an accident before you bought it
maybe the wheels have been repainted

What they need to do is get Subaru Rep involved.

Also Brake fluid spillage can cause that as well.

The dealer if feeding you bull crap. The wheels were probably damaged and then re-finished. Not your problem since it's under warranty. Not washing the wheels isn't going to cause the paint to peel off. That's just stupid.

How would you get brake fluid on the wheel? Wouldn't it be off the car for any brake maintenance?

I agree, it is crap. Take some picts and show us what's going on.

they were prob re-finished except whoever did it forgot to wash the wheels before hand somehow causing the flaking in the long run...but you can alwys try with the dealer...since you bought it used I'm not sure what there policy and warranty stuff is on it but good luck

I have seen it before, to the point where the paint is just bubbling and peeling off as if you were removing paint from a dresser to refinish it. Accidents and spillage does happen. Of course they just told me that all they did was wash the car
