Well by reading your post, you are saying you have gone through 2 sets of brake pads in 30,000 miles? How are you driving? I can see why they may not warranty them. Yes the brake pads are covered under the 3/36k wear item warranty. However, lets keep it in perspective. Brake pads normally last longer than 30k. The chances of you going through two sets of brake pads seems a bit extreme and looks like it is not a fault of the brake pads. The warranty doesn't cover excessive wearing of the brake pads. Usually you get a 1 time adjustment.

The brake pads themselves are at or over $300 bucks for oem. You can complain to SOA, but they may inquire as well as to why you are changing the brake pads for a second time within 30,000 miles. It won't hurt to try and find out through SOA.

Irvine Subaru is by far the worst dealership I have ever dealt with. Go to South Coast Subaru.

Contact SOA, then go to Renick. Not only are they a better dealership IMO, but they are very mod friendly Strange about the excessive wear though....

I don't know what to tell you. I have seen plenty of STI's and Subarus get 35-45k in 1 set of brakes.

If you have the extended warranty it depends on how long the term you got. Some are 60k, some are 100k. Also the Gold coverage is much better than classic. Also not everything is covered with the extended warranty either.

you say you have the extended warranty? so yeah you have 60K until it's up. I'd just grab the paperwork toss it in their faces. I didn't actually know that brake pads were covered.

What will tossing it in their faces prove?
A. Brakes aren't covered under the extended warranty
B. It doesn't go into effect until the 3/36 is up.

Brake pads are covered under the 3/36k wear item warranty only.

My bad for thread jacking but... I just bought my sti last week with 17K miles and it looks like the brake pads are worn out... I will be able to take it to the dealership and have them replaced right? What do I need to do or do i just drop by the dealership and have them take a look and if it needs to be replaced they will do it free under the warranty??
