Default German Castrol Void Warranty???

Just a quick question...

Will GC 0w30 void the factory extended warranty because it doesn't meet the oil weight recommended by Subaru for the STi? Obviously, they would be stupid if it did, but I want to know before I buy it.

If it makes any difference, I am planning on taking the oil to Subaru so that way I have the official maintenance record in case of s h i t. So I am sure it will say Castrol 0w30 on the receipt.

Thanks in advance! Sorry if it's a stupid question, I searched...

No, it meets the specs notated in the owners manual so it will not void your warranty.

I know it's not what you asked, but I wanted to comment about this part. Make sure you always keep your records about this stuff. My buddies Dad had an '04 STi. The turbo went after 30k miles, still under warranty, but because he never documented his oil changes, they made him pay $2k for a brand new VF39.

Yep that's why I am taking it to them. They can't say anything when I produce proof that they changed the oil every 3k-ish miles.

How frequent were his oil changes? That is why it is always important to document your services.

Write the date, mileage you do it on the oil/filter parts receipts. You can also input them on MySubaru.com
