Default 2007 STI Limited Vs. 2006 Evo IX MR Comparison

This is a Motor Trend Video of a comparison of the 2 cars...
http://youtube.com/watch?v=tN1eqbOpHxA

I test drove both and chose the STI Limited...More low end torque, a better interior, and 5 grand less!

Limited or not, I don't even like the '07s. Don't they have some kind of ECU problems or something? That narrator didn't sound very enthusiastic at all.

yeah, boring.

The best part was when they were revving. the subie sounds SOOO much better. reminds me of the edmunds review when the described the exhaust note as sounding like a vacuum thats sucked up a sock...fairly accurate.

Just kind of try to imagine the opposite of your car. The STi's low end torque is insane! and it falls off BAD up top until you hit the next gear and the car begins to pull hard again. The Evo's have NO low end torque what-so-ever. In my Buddies evo IX MR i slowly let out the clutch and mashed the gas in first gear, its like you can feel the car loading as the RPMs climb very slowly and then all of the sudden at about 3k the car takes off like a rocket and PULLS til redline and as you shift due to the fact that your so high in your RPMs already the car continues to pull HARD til redling in every gear so if your running hard through gears its an AMAZING ride! but just driving around town it rather boring.

No ECU problems on my 07 limited...I plan to go Stage 1 soon.
Oh, the 06 Evo MR is exactly like 06Stizzle describes when driving it... I was a hardcore Mitsubishi Guy that had a Eclipse GSX...The POS Mitsu went the 2 4G63 motors, 2 turbos, and a transmission. Crankwalk suxs for sure...
Yeah, this video makes me yawn, but I'm still glad that I purchased a STI Limited and not the EVO IX MR...

I've heard that people have been complaining about how the ECU needs to be reflashed or something and that the response is delayed.

I love them both. I had a hard up salesman let me drive them fast (100+) on back roads - back to back since they sell both.

For me I like the STI's interior better. It does not look cobbed together like the EVO. But the back seat in the EVO had more room for the baby seat.

Honestly, I liked driving the EVO better. It was a bit more thrilling. The comination of sounds and feel is pretty nice right out of the factory. It had a stiffer and bouncy ride going slow however.

In the end I decided........drum role........ I was too poor for either and stuck with my forester xt for a while more. I would take either STI or EVO they are both very cool.

He called it "heavy and sluggish" wtf? They should have used a regular sti instead of the heavier limited thats their fault. The MR is way overpriced also imo.

I saw a new '08 WRX hatch's window sticker for $30K. Now that's overpriced.

Hey, no need to dis the limited...Maybe they should have used the I/C sprayer in that socal heat... Plenty of other video comparisons test the regular STI and the EVO...I was just stoked to see a limited tested this year.
