Default Made another video of my gt35r sti, 20psi 93+meth UPDATE: 26psi in post 16

Subie TV

Needs better lighting, but this video is all about the wastegate blast.

The utec is holding too much boost between shifts (12psi+) and causing the meth injection to spray between shifts... but other than that, the car is running great. Lit up all 4 in 2nd gear in the second clip! Timing is still pretty low, 18 degrees at redline. And the AVCS map is still zeroed out. Redline is 7300 at the moment.

Using the 2-step set to cut spark (like in the last clip) cooked both my wideband o2 and egt probe... when the new ones arrive next week I'll tune for higher boost and set the meth injection to not start spraying till like 14psi.

A whole bunch on the butt dyno!

I tuned the car myself... the factory ecu has been a real pain though because the built motor is noisy and sets off the knock sensor randomly. I installed the UTEC a couple days ago and dialed in the knock sensitivity... and the car has been running great ever since. Gonna retune with Speed Density in the coming days and run the car on a dyno in 2 weeks.

I'll re-try later this week... I need a better way to mount the camera though. I've been simply jamming it in the hole in the passenger side seat

Thanks. It sounds nothing like other STIs I've heard - just wait for the EL header and 3.5" exhaust!

I had the 2-step set to cut ignition on the last run. On all the other ones it was set to cut fuel. So you're hearing the combustion process happening in the exhaust manifold, causing the turbo to spool like crazy (and damaging things like exhaust manifold gaskets, egt probe, wideband probe).

Monster. Now to add the dog box.

Now this "2-step" thing, what is it and its purpose? Are you trying to run anti-lag(), or was that a negative side-affect to your actual goal. Please do tell.

The utec is hooked up to the clutch switch. When the clutch is pushed down it triggers a secondary rev limiter. Below 13mph it is the "launch control" rpm and above 13mph it is the "flat foot shifting" rpm. Same functionality as what the AP2 offers, but better. This lets you shift with the gas pedal to the floor, without wrecking your syncros... the utec cuts the rpm down between shifts so it goes smoothly into the next gear. And it keeps the throttle plate open during the shift, which prevents the bov from releasing boost. The result is power as soon as you let the clutch out. I had the ffs rpm set to 5700 and was shifting at 7200ish (which looks like 7400 on the tach).

You have two options on the secondary rev limiter - injector cut, and ignition cut. Injector cut gives a nice smooth transition to the next gear and still holds boost nicely. Ignition cut is just nasty, and I think most of the negative side effects come from it. It finished off my egt probe (which had already started acting flakey) and also the wideband o2 sensor. Ignition cut can damage older wrx heads w/shims and can also damage stock sti heads I believe, by floating the valves (I have upgraded valvetrain). Ignition cut holds a lot more boost between shifts from what I see in my datalogs, but I don't think it's worth all the wear and tear. Maybe for special occasions
