damm man.. it's come to this. i've been on this board for almost a year...had my STI for longer...

dammm.......wtf is brake boost? i feel like such a douche asking.

my guess: hitting brake and gas at the same time....to slow down and create boost???? doesn't seem right, but my first guess.

Well you create load on the engine which in tern builds boost.

^^^ i'd never heard of it before until a couple months ago but from my inference skills (lol) i believe its just giving it gas while braking (so as to try to stay at a constant speed - or slow down -whatever you need to stay at the car next to you) while building boost at the same time...so as soon as you WOT, youre off, and dont need to wait to build boost.

and wow, that must be really bad for your brakes lol.

You are correct ras, it allows you load the engine and create boost so that you can kill people in a roll on (its our way of cheating...)

It def cooks your brakes if done too much but feels great!

usually if i'm about to run with someone, i will start off in a higher gear before we start to go and then as soon as its time, i downshift and that seems to build boost as well...i dont know, maybe its just me, but in case you dont get it i'll describe...

say were gonna go from 3rd gear on teh third honk...during the first and second honk i will be in 4th or 5th giving it more gas then usual, but not really advancing or going anywhere, because it builds boost slowly, then i'll quickly shift into a lower gear and it seems like it jumps a little more...

sound stupid? or plausible?

I dont think it is stupid at all but I dont think you quite get the advantage like Brake boosting. You have to figure that yeah your loading up the engine and building some boost but the time it takes you to downshift into a lower gear your probably losing most or all of that boost. Were as with brake boosting your building up boost and just releasing the brakes so that the boost never drops at all it just goes to max boost a whole lot quicker once you release the brakes.
