IWSTI Addict since: Nov 2005 Trader Rating: (92) | Hey guys, Heres some videos of my 04 WRX with the exhaust cutout open. Its a custom-welded assembly that attaches to the TurboXS Racepipe, which is connected to a normal TXS turboback. The Cutout is made by BADLANZHPE.com. The car also has ported stock manifolds and an STi uppipe. In these vids, it is at Cobb stage 2 (now it has a VF43 turbo, but no vids of that yet). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HeH6HjvYG84 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LepX8iCCSrQ Yes, this was all filmed on a closed course by professionals and not in a school zone This ad is not endorsed by this member. IWSTI Addict since: Nov 2005 Trader Rating: (92) | I dont know if there are any gains, I did it for fun and because my turboback is pretty quiet. I wanted to do something a little bit out-there before I get old and boring I noticed slightly quicker response and possibly a bit more power, but it could all be placebo, its like all hell breaks loose when its open so theres really no way to determine the gains. No dyno graphs on it. mxpop, how did you come up with 2.5hp? It sounds like a guess, Ive seen some dyno charts with 10whp gains with cutouts, but whatever. I have a 2.0L, so no boost creep issuse |

Yes, it is just a guess based on the testing mentioned in my previous post. I mentioned that completely removing my entire cbe (factory SPT) and running my COBB DP only/open, i got a 5whp gain. My guess was based on the idea that a cut out will return somewhere between 0-5whp. I also believe that even a cutout will have more restriction than nothing at all, which gave me the 5whp reported. my SPT is deff not one of the highest perf systems. For a cutout to give 10whp, then that must mean that the cbe its cutting out musta been a restrictive pos in the first place. Or, the cutout caused boost creep which means its really not running better, just riskier. anyway, thats my story...... | |

IWSTI Addict since: Sep 2004 Trader Rating: (0) | I have thought about the cut out before, but I was going to run two mufflers somehow. One would be the best flowing flowmaster and the other being stock. This really was just an idea. I really dont think there is room for another muffler under the car anywhere.
