I raced one while stage 1 while entering the highway (at night, empty hwy). I kept even with him till about 100mph, then backed off. He was pissed and just kept accelerating... Sorry Porsche!

Yep, you are right...It just threw me off seeing the S4 getting out of control while the STI stayed in control when tossed.

raced one on the highway from about 80 - 140... he was almost two car lengths ahead by then and seperating still(im stock).. i think the 4s is a pretty cool car.. would love to drive one.

Over here in Germany I've had the chance to race them on the autobahn a couple of times. My favorite race was against this black 4S. We slowed down to about 50 and just went at it. It was a pretty close race, but I slowly started to walk away. He was a pretty cool guy about the whole thing. We both gave each other a thumbs up and parted ways. Afterwards, I looked on the internet to see the price for one of those and I was shocked to see I beat a 85+ sports car!

I'm stage 2 BTW.

Man those things look tuff... looks wide as hell from the rear, with huge meaty tires.. Only 355hp stock so it makes sense that we can hang. A good friend of mine told me "You might be as fast, but I bet theres a better lookin chic in his car..." touche'

I love it!!!

Yeah, when I first ran into one the rear badge alone was intemidating(sp?), but after a little research I figured that they really weren't a big deal. Now if it says "Turbo" or "GT3/RS" on the back.....forgetitaboutit!

Still waiting to race my pops... Driving both, I can say the Porsche easily outhandles the STi, it just gives you much more confidence.

1. porsche normally 355 hp, in this test the OEM sport version with 381 hp and ceramic-brakes total cost in germany
car 96700,- €
sport version + 10500,- €
ceramic brakes + 14000,- €
total 125200,- € = 172.000 US-$ (but the price on the us-market would be much cheaper, that´s what we germans have to pay for)

short translation

- Subaru sound nice, steering indifferent but ok, gear shift not so good, a little understeering, good brakes, good traction

- Porsche better interior, steering perfect, gear shift perfect ("super-geil"), superb brakes, very good traction

Both boxer engines are sth very special...

for a german test, very objective

and sorry, billshut, you can´t walk away from a porsche with 381 hp, not with stage 2, wishful thinking....NEVER! I tried it on german autobahn a few times, till 100-120 mph ok, but then "they walked away"...
