IWSTI Addict since: Nov 2006 Trader Rating: (0) | i'm not talking crap on S4's. i know they're nice cars. but should an STI lose to it in a race? i'm rolling stg 2 cobb, and i would think that there would be no doubt that i'd win. am i wrong? oh and yeah - i don't drive like flipper in this vid. so assuming i sit still and shift (without dumping my clutch mid range) how would an S4 compare? |

Audi S4 4.2L V8: 340HP, 302lb-ft tq Curb Weight: 3850–4050lbs Audi S4 2.7L V6 Biturbo: 250hP, 258lb-ft tq Curb Weight:3593lbs Don't you love it how newer cars get heavier and heavier and heavier? Watch as in 2015 our STIs will weight 4200lbs and Audis will weight 5000lbs+ if the trend continues... But hey, they will also probably be pushing 400hp+ if the power grain trend continues as well.. Anyways, here is weight/horsepower for the respective cars: (lower number is faster)... V8 Audi:11.32lb/hp V6 Audi: 14.32lb/hp 04/05STI: 300hp/300ft/lb, 3263lbs curb weight; 10.87lb/hp 06/07 STI:300hp/300ft/lb, 3351lbs curb weight; 11.17lb/hp BTW... 1998 STI: 290hp, 263ft-lbs, 2800lbs curb weight, 9.6lb/hp. Yup, they get newer, they cost more, they run slower But anyways, to answer your question, an STI should be significantly faster than an older Audi S4 and it may be slightly faster than the new Audi V8, assuming shift points, gear ratio, turbo lag don't come into play too much during the race. A Stage 2 STI (9.7lb/hp) would walk all over the Audi. And still get beat by the 10 year old STIs BTW... My STI-swapped 2.5RS had 7.3lb/hp This ad is not endorsed by this member.
