Default AMS EVO vs. Crawford 06'STI

I love the EVO with all my heart but I Bought a STI for a reason... It starts EVERYTIME and its a TORQUE MONSTER. DSM's, DONT HAVE that Torque down low until fairly modified.....And NOW FOR YOUR VIEWING PLEASURE COSWORTH VS. CRAWFORD
That EVO's tranny was built by John Shepherd AKA 7 SEC 1st Gen Eclipse. You could go 200+ on the way his trannys are geared and Built "CRYO-treated" for the 1/4 and TimeATTK<> . But the HP\Quality ratio is to be discovered, the hard way.

I saw this car in person and it is pretty much insane.

I've seen that incar from M-O before... ugh the dude driving the STi looks SO uncomfortable behind the wheel, his line is WAY off in areas and just looks so sloppy and slow... oh well

That is an 04 STi with a front 06 conversion. I believe the STi is on stock block and tranny but not 100%. Check their website. It also has full interior so the weight is close to stock unless they changed it?

ugh.....that dude has won the championship for the last three years in a row. What do you have to your credit that backs up your statement?

That dude makes our Subaru’s the king of the track. I would have expected some support from a fellow Subaru vendor?

im always blown away checking out the crawford....cant imagine what it'd be like to push my same car with double the stock whp and the same weight. Hell, it blows me away how fast our car with just R's and brakes and suspension can be. Once I finish my car im sure ill be glad I took all those driving schools.

Must be unreal, come up to canada and give me a ride.

I went to the website but still couldnt find a total list of mods to that beast? anyone wanna enlighten me?

I have to take my hat off to Russ, he can drive the wheels off that sti. However, it does look like he was "racing" there and not driving like he normally would. I cant say anything more than that because its a videos and i dont know jack about analyzing videos, but In the other videos I've seen he looks calmer and more composed.

here is where the bashing starts:
1) its TTU so put your money where your mouth is and drive the car balls to the wall.
2) That evo weighs a good 150lbs less than the sti
3) The evo has another 40hp on the subaru. Sorry for all the tq fans, but unless its a really tight twisty course the more HP the better.
4) over driving a car or racing.. makes you slower.. trust me.

So kudos to the Evo being the 2006 TTU national champ, followed closely by Russ and the Crawford STi.

Why did the EVO died like that? What happened? I would say that was a close call with the STi coming from behind at triple digits...

I knew I would get some flak for that, and possibly rightly so...

I don't want to discount the your drivers accomplishments, good job with what you guys have done. I hate to say that stuff considering I haven't had much experience with tons of power on track, I wouldn't doubt it is a little overwhelming for a while.

Now with that said, all I am saying is that I saw him off line A LOT, sawing at the wheel a lot, generally over driving (ie turning in a bit fast)... etc etc he just did not look comfortable at all... there was a LOT of time left on the table...

Now I can say that I would recommend (if you guys are coming to M-O for NASA again) that going to an official mid-ohio school day could be very beneficial, they have some AMAZING instructors there that know that track like nobody else (tommy bryne is my favorite, he actually had a ride in a F1 car in the 80's)

http://www.midohioschool.com/

^ you can go to the school tab, then video clips and pick from some course layouts for good incar showing the fast line...

here is incar @ m-o from me in my car... please dont assume im some elitist, just trying to show some feedback, I am not that great of a driver and etc... so yeah I hope I am not coming off as arrogant or a jerk

http://youtube.com/watch?v=BUiGXlWvLh4

^ I have a few areas where I could def carry a little bit more speed at turnin and track out a bit more, but I am driving my DD'er and wanted to leave some time on the table just incase I got too hot... heh
