it basically feeds extra fuel into the turbo which gets lit off the heat of the turbo and keeps it spooled? i think

That was shot in my city, Perth. It's at a motor show called Motorvation and the guys have these anti-lag battles.

sort of. The extra fuel actually gets ignited in the headers and that extra amount of exhaust spools the turbo. It's great in wrc b/c everything is rebuilt after each session, but for a street car it's completely not applicable. This will destroy the valves, headers, the turbo and so other engine stuff in a few hundred miles.

In a few hundred miles...where do you guys come up with this stuff. Lots of guys run anit-lag with no problems, yes its harder on your car and will cause parts to fail earlier but in a few hundred miles...lol...

I don't always trust wikipedia as the total gospel of everything, but I thought this write up was pretty good. Hope it answers some questions of the OP.

i heard you could have the same thing happening when installing a fonctional spark plug on the tail pipe , that actually fires up the unburned fuel.
so it may not be a actual antilag.

Nice find MD,

The prob with AL is that it basically causes another combustion process in the ex manifold in order to keep the turbo spooling when off throttle. It does this by using such delayed ignition and richness that it ignites with the ex valves already open. When you get back on throttle, the turbo is already up to speed which reduces lag.

Problem is, the stock ex manifolds and supporting parts arent designed to handle this extra pressure/heat.

Newer and more sophisticated systems are better and gentler but are still hard on the components.

BTW, am i the only one who sees a gay inuendo with all those WRXs back to back expelling gasses at each other? Seems like some gay ritual carried out in an automotive manner...
