That's not entirely true considering the amount of traction control that is being used today. You have to equal in 20 years difference in tire and electronics control. The world rally cars can not compete with a competent driver behind the wheel of a group b car. 0-60mph on gravel for the delta was 2.5 seconds. I'd take my bet with something older.

Does anyone have concrete proof the WRC cars are faster through the same rally stage as a Group B car. I for one, do not believe this to be true. Look at rallycross as an example. Group B cars still dominate rally cross, 20 years after they first rallied, with WRC cars also racing.
They basically killed Group B cars because they were too fast and dangerous. I doubt that current WRC cars would be allowed to be as fast.
But, I am really interested if anyone actually has some time comparisons for particular stages.
I would still take a Metro 6R4, Audi SW Quattro, Ford RS200, Lancia Delta S4, Puegot 205 Turbo, or Renault R5 Maxi Turbo over any of today's WRC cars.

I know a couple guys in ireland who collect the RS200 and have a couple of them. After ford dropped out of group b they had all of these rs200's ready for sales and they had to put them all up for auction. They are really really nice cars.
