You are correct.

he sand '40 grand' and hes british so that means pounds. last time I was there (~2 months ago) all my credit card purchases (aproximately nominal exchange rate) were 1.83 $/£ that means $73.2k

however keep in mind that there is some inflation in the price conversion from US to UK.... the STI has an MSRP (parkers.co.uk) of £28,540 ($52.2)... and I can almost promise he paid more for every single part and all the labor to assemble it than a US company would.... so they put ~$21k worth of mods on it labor and all...

Given the US MSRP is is $33,620 (for my ZIP at least) I would approximate a US price for this car around $47k based on this inflation rate... if Subaru spit them from the factory I would expect closer to $40k

(oops just noticed there was a second page and somebody else already mentioned this... oh well)

17.5% to be precise. the only benefit is that its included the sticker price in the UK. Always bugs me in the US when the sticker is like 19.99, but then it costs ya more at the cashier. Caught me out a few times in Cali, when a 'good deal' turned into 'meh', thx to that 8.25%...

Also mentioned in the video was the car base was a JDM model only. This means they had to grey market the car in then do the mods. Adds to the $$$.

I sent an inquiry to Litchfield and suggested they ought to consider bringing this car to the US, as it would probably sell very well. Here is the response I got from Iain Litchfield:

Quote:
We are currently discussing sending the correct parts to one of our partners
so that the Type-25 can be offered for sale in the US.

These cars will be built to a near identical specification as the cars
offered to our UK and European customers. Each car will be individually
numbered with a detailed build history.

At present we are speaking to Richard at Dynocomp.

Dynocomp
8295 E. Raintree Dr., Suite A,
Scottsdale, AZ 85260

Phone: (480) 596-0500
Fax: (480) 596-0544

Please feel free to contact him about this exciting car.
That would be pretty neat if they did that. I suspect we would not get a true Type-25 here, since the process of importing, certifying, and converting a real Spec-C would be troublesome. But I could suffer with a USDM STI that sported a Cosworth engine, I suppose...

I would instantly buy it, they would just have to have the pricing reasonable...although I am sure there would be a ridiculous demand for anything with a Cosworth engine(among other things) from the factory...

I can dream.

The price for Porsche and Ferrari are different in Europe than they are here, so you can't really compare apples to apples.

Either way, no matter what the price is, the thing is sweet. Sadly, if they ever brought some incarnation of that car to the US, it wouldn't really be anything like that. Just the weight difference alone due to US crash regulations would seriously impact the overall performance, not to mention that we are nazis here about emissions control.

Still....we should all dream to have something that stock esque, without being stock at all.
