Default In car vids at Buttonwillow, CA 10/1/06

I was with Speedventures at Buttonwillow. We ran the 13A config in the counter clockwise direction. I had fun, especially when it started raining. A lot of the AWD cars were going off at the "Bus Stop" turn, including yours truly.

Earlier I picked up a screw in my R compound tire when I went off track before it rained. It wasn't a good day after that. I ran the rest of the day on my street tires but I still had fun.

I uploaded my vids to www.youtube.com/hpdedriver (10/1/06 dated vids). Camera mount was a SM31 (from http://www.chasecam.com/mounts-suction.htm) with a Panasonic MiniDV camcorder on the front windshield.

I also have a video of a C5 vette hitting the tire wall at the "Sunrise" turn.

Nice videos! Those little rises with corners after can be tricky, a buddy of mine rolled his freshly restored ZR-1 at Spokane on something similar.

It's always better when you keep the shiny side up!

What kind of camera mount are you using?

This is the only track that has hills like this near me so I have to get used to it. I've only been on this track twice (including this one) and this is a different configuration than before. This is the most fun track to me so far.

Camera mount was a SM31 (from http://www.chasecam.com/mounts-suction.htm) with a Panasonic MiniDV camcorder on the front windshield.

Cool. I think I saw your car. I saw a lot of Subarus there but I was lazy to ask all of them if they are on the forums There were a lot of "offs" that day too. I had my forum name next to my car number too.

Cool, I'm using the chasecam SM40 and a JVC mini-dv. Currently my setup is on loan to a Z-06 owner that lives out in MT and soon to be heading to Vegas for the regional ZR-1 gathering. He's filmed a couple of top MPH runs in the Z-06 and will be doing in car during a mile shoot out in Vegas.

Do you tie your camera down or use any extra padding under it to keep the vibrations down? I noticed a lot of shake in my early footage but that camera died on the track. The replacement is a lot lighter, less than a pound with the tape, but I don't care for it because it's lacking an external screen and you have to use the viewfinder.

I don't tie it down or use padding. Just the three suction cups. Is your suspension really stiff (coilovers)? I just have springs and the stock struts. My vids don't shake that much. The camera is palm size.

It wasn't bad in my car, the Z-06 wasn't too bad, the ZR-1 was the worst, it was on coilovers. I may go to a chasecam mini-cam and wire it to the camera.

Hmm, maybe. I need to get a new tire since I was "screwed" Sunday. I never drove that track before either.

I haven't run there either, looks like fun though. Every time I run at Streets I never see anyone driving on it so I really want to see how it is up there.
