Default 2006 One Lap of America in a 15 Minute Video

We recently finished compiling a 15 minute short film of the 2006 One Lap of America. The short film follows our customer’s STi through all the tracks from start to finish. One Lap of America does not consist of only track events but also being able to drive your own vehicle to the next event. Sometimes those trips are as far as 1000 miles away, to only race the clock a few hours later.

The One Lap of America consists of 8 days, 19 track events and 4800 miles of driving. All anyone wants to do is sleep, but sometimes the world plays some mean jokes and sleep becomes a second thought. The short film steps through the dry / wet tracks, the late night road trips and short commentaries from the driver and passenger.

Low Quality, 25 meg video link, 320x240

High Quality, 160 meg video link, 640x480

Link to more pictures from the event

One Lap of America Results:
- 3rd in class, behind the AMS EVO (2nd) and TopSpeed STi (1st)
- 8th overall out of 88 vehicles

Vehicle Specs:
- Crawford Performance S5 Short (2.65 Liter) Block
- Crawford Performance CP30R Turbo Kit
- Crawford Performance Air/Oil Separator
- Crawford Performance Street Max Clutch
- I-Speed USA ECU ( 25 psi on 91 Octane )
- 506 hp @ 6900 rpm
- 527 tq @ 4300 rpm

We would like to congratulate private owner Kevin Jones on his 8th place finish overall and 3rd place in class. The competition was tough and being able to hang right behind the the AMS EVO and the Topspeed STi showed what a privately owned Crawford STi is capable of.

Other thanks go out to AMS for their willingness to keep the shop open so Kevin could fix a few problems mid way through the event.

Video appearances by:
- DC Shoes 2006 STi
- 800 + hp Viper
- AMS EVO

Cheers,

We apologize for the size, but a high quality 15 minute video is pretty hard to shrink down. Anyway glad to hear it was worth the wait, we have more video's coming out and more on our website if you want to check them out.

Thank you for your comments, at times I would agree a little boring, but it more of a overview of the entire event instead of just some cool clips.

Great Video!

I also did the One Lap of America this year. We got second in class in a 2004 GTO. Although we were plagued with brake/transmission failure we had a blast. If you'd like to check out some of our pictures go to www.racingforthechildren.org

I was so impressed with the STI you built along with Luke in Topspeed's entry that I bought a 2006 STI when I got back from the one lap that I will be entering in 2007!

The AWD vehicles absolutely ruled in the wet and most events towards the end of the event were all run in the rain.

^^^ you should take the sti out on the track in stock form once before you start modding it because it truly is a great car out of the box (especially with some r-comps slapped on).

I would agree with your statement, we have quite a few customers that have brought their STi to the race track first. There they get a feek for their car and see where they are lacking. Then they either try some simple mods or go a little crazier with short blocks and turbo kits. By going to the track they can see and feel the difference every step of the way.

Even a simple reflash on a stock STi is a world of difference, coming out of the corners with a faster spool and more low end torque can whip your STi by the competition even before they know it.

If you want more information about One Lap of America I would suggest taking a look at their website.
