This just comes with time. After a while in any new car, you simply learn about how much blip is required. It is actually easier to blip correctly on the track because it is usually around the same amount for every shift. On the street, depending on how you are driving (ie sedately versus aggressively) the amount of blip is quite variable.

lol, ya it's not too easy. i have big feet to, so I seem to use the width of my foot to control the break and gas.

this is the exact problem i'm having. when i'm driving more spiritedly, i usually don't have a problem. traffic and such, however, can be difficult for me. i'm getting better though. i only learned to drive stick when i bought my baby in march 05. that was an interesting first month of ownership, but my baby and i got through it unscathed.

Synchros, bah. Clutches, bah too, for that matter. I probably shouldn't tell people this because they'll go out and break things, but driving a manual transmission car without using the clutch is actually quite doable.
Yeah that's what I was thinking - sounds like what I do every day just out of laziness, lol. Pop out of 4th, for example, rev match and pop it into 3rd never having touched the clutch. I'm not sure how you'd start from a standstill, but other than that I know it's entirely possible to drive without ever touching the clutch.

The concept of heel-toe sounds very intriguing to me. I've always heard people talk about it, never really understood what it was or what it was meant to accomplish. Now that I know I want to go try and figure it out myself.

Thanks for the link! Nice vid.

Well, completely off topic I guess, but I wear size 14...

You might try picking up a pair of those Euro looking soccer-style shoes that Puma (and others) make. They look a little...I dunno, gay maybe. But I was really surprised at how comparitively nimble I felt while working the pedals.

Pop the gearbox into neutral before you stop, shut off the engine, put the car in gear while it is stopped and the engine is off, then use the starter motor to get moving again.

I fear we may be causing a big runup in sales of STi gearboxes and starter motors. Kids, don't try this at home!

I find double-clutching harder, i'm not sure why.
I just don't see to get the timing correct as i do with a single clutch heel & toe. I wasn't brought up on cars with shot-synchros, so i've never had to learn, but i have tried and it's more difficult.

I'm just going to stick with what works for me!
