the best way to practice it is just sit in your car while its off. i would start with just a regular heel and toe and then once you have that down try to throw the double clutching in there. that system worked the best for me.

he does both at the same time

double cluthing while rev matching and down shifting at the same time.

Pretty good and quik. Braking it down......

Approach corner.....

Apply Break
Apply Clutch
Shift to Neutral
Rev match
Apply Clutch
Downshift
release brake
Accelerate

+ practice x 10000000^10000000 = As close to Gary Sheehan

yeah, that's a lot to do in such a short amount of time. it's amazing. he releases the clutch after shifting to neutral and before the rev match, correct?

yep
basically he puts the car in neutral, then releases the clutch, revs match, clutch in downshift and goes on.....

Why do this, i dont understand. What is the difference when you do this than when just keeping the clutch down and rev matching.

(puts on flamesuit)

I dont really see what the point of the double clutch is, will somebody explain. Why not just hold it down, is there a purpose for pumping it. When you push in the cluch you effectivly take the car out of gear, why do you let out the cluch and then push it back in just to move the shifter, why dont you just put it into the gear you want on the intial cluch push?

be nice...

The double clutching is mainly for cars without synchros. If you do not double clutch no a truck for example its the nice noise of the gears crunching each other.

Its great watching it, but is it necessary

edit just found this

Quote:
Does double-clutching do any good if you have a synchromesh box? Yes, it
makes the synchros work less hard than they were designed to, so they will
last longer. The synchros will make up for any errors.

how long would the synchros need to last on a wrc car? i know they basically put new engines into f1 cars after every race, so couldn't they just replace the synchros after each stage or no?
