i liek GTO,s i just got back from watching teh rolex series GTO-R's a couple weekends ago, but i can tell you right now those STi's werent racing. i'm not a good driver. but when me, and my two friends (05 gto 03 svt cobra) went to the drag strip i would smoke them up to about the 8th mile mark..okay maybe not smoke them, but i'd be faster and quicker. from there it was over for me. and all of our cars are stock.

my friend with teh gto and I autocross alot. and its a nice car, but it does have some suspension issues around the turns IMO. on the autoX course the gto needs some work, but a road course would be a totally different situation though. still i'd say a lightly moded 04 gto shouldnt be pushign more than a stock 05. unless a catback can add 50ish horsepower. but maybe i'm way off.

lastly if he was really smoking them he should have video taped them in the rear view.

Aside from the fact that he launched it like I'd launch if I had my grandma in the passenger seat on the way to church on Sunday, it sounded like the STI in the 2nd vid was only hitting about 4500rpm before he shifted.

In other words, it didn't even look like he was racing.

But then again I wasn't there.

so I was driving the back streets of Everett, Wa one day and I hear the roar of open headers. I look down the road and a couple of blocks away I see a '66 Baracuda painted WRB coming towards me. Big thirteen inch wide tires in back and seriously raked, that car was the bomb. I'm thinking to myself as I get closer, "man that car is the coolest" . We pass and Jethro in the driver's seat in the Barracuda looks me in the eye and gives me a two handed American Eagle salute!

I thought about turning around and asking him to come to the next autocross event, but I wasn't feeling the love at that particular moment any longer.
