Default 05 STI GT35R on Wastegate boost

Here's a quickie I made last weekend. 13-22 degrees of timing and 11ish AFR. I'm seeing 18-20psi on wastegate boost which is odd, the wg is supposed to have a 15psi spring in it. I might pull the wg out this weekend just to check the spring. Until I get that settled I'm running 110 octane. This is the Perrin .82 A/R GT35R kit flowing through a Borla Hush catback, PE 850's, etc.

I stomped on it in 5th gear once and saw full boost in the mid 4's. In the lower gears, around 5k. Maybe a little earlier but I only get 4 samples per second when datalogging with streettuner, and my logs usually jump right from 4500 to 5500.

It still needs a lot of tuning. I'm going to schedule a tune with xxtuning in the coming days, I just need to get the nozzle for the smc alky kit mounted first.

Every person who has ridden in the car so far has started using 4-letter words before 4th gear

Wow car sounds and looks *****in! You go through the gears pretty quick, i just wished out cars would stay in gear or rev a little higher, we'd be able to squeeze out more horsepower then. But none the less, great sti.

The car semmed like it was pulling really good. Did you tune it yourself with the street tuner?

Yes I've tuned it myself with streettuner. I did a lot of tuning on the stock turbo (12.48 @ 108.6 quarter w/ 1.66 60' and 7.94 eighth mile) so I wasn't too afraid to give the 35r a shot. I've been running race gas for extra headroom against knock but think I'll be ready for 93 soon. I did some more tuning tonight and got my afr's a little more under control, but my fuel maps still need work. Timing is still really conservative compared to other pump gas gt35r datalogs that I've seen.

The EWG is pretty loud, even with it plumbed back into the downpipe. My Borla Hush has to go, I think it's way too restrictive to make any serious power. I've had my eye on the APS 3.5" exhaust but my wallet is still hurting from all the other mods.

Here are the relavent performance mods:
Cobb AccessPort + StreetTuner
Perrin rotated kit GT35R .82 A/R
XS Power FMIC
PE 850cc injectors
SMC Alky Kit (disconnected for now)
Walbro fuel pump
Apexi AVC-R (turned off for now)
TXS Knocklite w/standalone bosch sensor
Borla Hush Catback
Greddy EGT Gauge
LC-1 Wideband o2 w/XD-1 Gauge
NGK Iridium Plugs 1-step colder
Wrapped Uppipe/Downpipe/Turbine housing

yeah, good call ditching the borla. you want that sucker to breeeeath.

your vid's got me all excited about completing my car. i have the gt35r perrin kit, as well. just need to button up the aquamist lines and get the jet installed.

what do you think you'll be running once you get it tuned? i'm thinking deep 11's with good driving.

love the wg and i'm glad it's not too quiet.

also, which clutch do you have?

Still on the stock clutch. The stock clutch is amazing, I made 80+ quarter mile passes on it last year and probably 200 hard street launches. It's like the energizer bunny, it just keeps going and going and going....

I'll probably go with either the RPS 6-puck or the ACT 6-puck clutch when the time comes.

have you gone to xxtuing? my boost gauge is telling me im seeing around 17 psi also and noticed full boost around4200-4500 in 4th gear. i went to the track and only trapped 106 but i also broke my motor mounts and tranny mounts. car put down 333 at the wheels but feels like it changes? lol weird. i too am running off the spring. i have Perrins gt35r rotated kit, .82 ar, perrins FMIC walbro fuel pump, PE850cc, ngk irids. 1 step colder and a blitz BOV (think thats everything) on a 06 sti. just for input, do you guys think that these cars will trap 120+??? if not i might be selling my car lol

106 seems really low, I trapped 108.6 on the stock vf39. There's a video of a car with the UR gt35r kit running a 12.1 @ 113 at 15psi. Is your car tuned?? Like I said my car has not made it to xxtuning yet, the tune was done by me using StreetTuner.

I just went out to my private track to do some more tuning/datalogging and hit boost cut in 5th gear (23psi I believe, my fuel cut map is just the stage2 one). Something isn't right. I'm going to eliminate the avc-r boost solenoid completely and run a line from the compressor outlet to the side of the WG, and leave the top port of the WG open, to see if it makes a change. I'm hoping the solenoid is leaking, because I really don't feel like taking the wastegate out.

edit: oh yeah, I saw full boost at 5500 in 1st with just a teeny bit of wheelspin off the line.

yes my car is tuned from xxtuning. but i had to get a few different things like a blitz boost controller, T-bolt clamps, and tighten down a bolt that was a little loose that was leaking some oil on top of the turbo. they also want me to get a few gauges for the next time i go there. very disapointed right now then in my car.
