Default Critque my driving: Gingerman incar and autox incar videos....

First off, this is my second time at gingerman and the first time I was doing pretty bad. Thankfully I got some good pointers and I felt more confident this time around so I feel as though I did pretty decent. But far from great. Anyway take a look, I really hope to get some good feed back from you guys, so any constructive comments would be appreciated.

I took turn 10 a bit hot a few times... on the last lap of the video it will show you a little landscaping adventure... but anyway heres the gingerman video:

***PLEASE NO STREAMING, ONLY SAVE TARGET AS!***

^(63mb and 11min long)

here is the autox video:

Finally, a couple great pix from gingerman (thanks Nandan!)

Ooh...I'm gonna check this out as soon as I get home from work, can't download random stuff at work. I was tempted to come up to this event, perhaps next time.

I didn't finish watching it, but man that was a fun two laps I got with you

The video doesn't give you a real impression for the speed out there though!

...yikes. That looked like it was pretty damn fun. You looked like you knew what you were doing more than I would have at least.

What is with your brakes, those mofos are freakin loud.

His pads were loud as all hell once they heated up. I could hear him for several turns after I stopped seeing his car

fyi: i'm on my brother's username, im not registered here

i've been at gingerman 6 times, 3 driving schools and 3 lapping days, by no means i'm an expert but the line you are taking is far from good (although i've seen worse), my brother with his almost stock WRX (a lot slower car than yours, but he did go to driving school) and myself in a stock S2000 would pass you after 1/2 lap, there is maybe one turn you took right, the rest of them were not pretty, im not saying that to offend you but you could go around each corner a lot faster simply by taking a different line, using the track, and not "fighting" your car, you have to let the car go where it wants to in a controlled way

if you'd like to go to one of the driving schools PM my borther and we'll give you details, it's not cheap, but you will enjoy driving a lot more after you know what you are doing behind the wheel, we will both be there on may 8th, if you wanna go, let us know, it's a ton of fun

what brakes are you using?

EDIT: there is more than one turn you took right, you are just inconsistent

Looked like a lot of fun out there. Those pads SCREAM! That would scare the piss out of me if I heard that car coming up behind me.

Nice save on the off-roading adventure.

@wrx1905,

While I do not doubt what you say, but you are comparing line of a s2000 and a STi. Two totally different vehicles.

I am download the video now, so I haven't watched it or have any experience with that track but I believe, by just the different drivetrain layouts (handling characteristics), you can't compare the two...

I say this in the up-most respect. I'm no expert.

Cool, thanks for the reply... just take this into consideration at the beginning of the video the car is still getting to temp, the traffic... etc. Try to use the last few laps as critque. I have been to this track only once before, I only got instruction (from a great Evo driver/instructor/and does some amatuer racing) for the first time there today for only a few laps. He mentioned some of what you did, although you arnt getting very specific. The video is after his pointers and my line cleaned up some, I still will reserve that its pretty off, most off, around 7-8-9 (I think). If you care to, get more specific so I know what exactly you are trying to say.

I am going back to gingerman with a honda club in early july, I doubt I will get there before then. Then I will probably go back in october for the last speedtrial event.

But anyway, thanks for taking sometime to give some input.

I am using performance friction 01 pads and superblue fluid.

Hey this is the guy who's Sti was hit with the Porsche wheel that went rogue! Wish you guys would have stayed to race Sunday, the weather was really nice. Anyways, I'm not an expert at Gingerman myself, but in terms of basic road coarsing, there was just some inconsistancy and there were a few corners in which it seemed you were not judging were the apex actually was. Rule of thumb, get your braking done first, enter the apex, and gas through once you've come half way through. What happened a lot for me was when I did't get a good angle going into a turn, it was easy to fight the wheel and gas through, which odvioulsy isn't right. I found myself not using my brakes enough and constantly coming in too hot. Slam on them puppies when you start coming around the apex and going full throttle the car will glide itself out and you don't have to fight the wheel to keep it inside (hope that makes sense). When the car is gliding out, i found it a great time to read the next corner and judge where i could straighten the chassy out to stop on the brakes and enter in. I missed a lot myself but after my 1st heat, but my next few heats I found myself increasing my speeds on the faster parts from 90-95ish to 100-105 after putting more faith into the tires and brake pads. ( was running the falken 615s and porterfield rs-4 pads)
It's actually a pretty technical little coarse. I had an instructor ride with me once for some pointers and it was nothing less that a drill sargent :/ You should have seen me on that heat..... i couldn't make **** for cornering. My concentration was gone lol.
Anyways, it's a fun thing to work on, I know I need to do more myself. Hopefully we can get groups going in the future!
