IWSTI Addict since: Dec 2005 Trader Rating: (0) | Yes they do hence the ridiculous amount of flames coming out of the exhaust, it works by keepin the valve in the throttle body partially open and dumping mad gas into the engine, the unburnt air/fuel mixture then makes its way into the exhaust and ignites ( which is what spools the turbo ). At least I think that is how they work. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, and yes it gets very hot and is not healthy for the turbo. Oh well if you have an anti-lag system you probably arent too worried about turbo longevity . Interesting vid thanks for the post. This ad is not endorsed by this member. IWSTI Addict since: Jul 2003 Trader Rating: (0) | sorry guys, this doesn't look like anti-lag to me this looks like a TBE and BOVs on a few of them, and just TBE on the others. i shoot flames, and have no anti-lag.... it's just a function of how rich you're running. ALS is more of a "BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG" (it "bangs" about twice a second, sometimes shooting flames.) revving up followed by flame / backfire sounds like a rich tune / the natural breathyness of our tbes... (don't forget, the turbo gets HOT regardless of ALS... hot enough to ignite gasses if we have an un restrictive enough exhaust. besides, i may be wrong, but i believe ALS explosions are BEFORE the exhaust turbine, and the increased pressure causes the turbine to spin, so you wouldn't be seeing AS MANY flames w/ that as you would with this. |

I figure it's gotta be anti-lag... you can hear quite a bit of snap, crackle, popping.. even more so then I've ever heard on a catless Suby

You are correct about the explosion occuring before the exhaust turbine, guess I didnt make that very clear, if the explosion happened after the turbine it wouldn't spool the turbo which is the whole point of the ALS setup. NJSTi05, they dont have the anti-lag on the cars so they can sit there and shoot flames/make popping noises, they are there to provide boost under what would normally be a no/low(at idle, between shifts, etc.) boost situation. I think they were just puttin on a little show because they can....
