IWSTI Addict since: Aug 2004 Trader Rating: (4) | I attended the Speed Ventures event on FEB 25 at Buttonwillow. The track was in 25A configuration in a clockwise direction. I liked the track a lot with the elevation changes and especially the esses! :disco: The event was booked full so I went to the Beginner group just to drive the track. I hit a lot of "traffic" on the track but it was a little ego boost passing all the noobs ![]() http://www.hpdedriver.com/media/video/22506bw.wmv This ad is not endorsed by this member. IWSTI Addict since: Apr 2003 Trader Rating: (3) | nice job banging the curbs!!! I love seeing "inferior" equipment with skilled drivers passing high dollar stuff like the Cayman. Ever think about a polarizing filter to help with the picture when heading into the sun? I'm gonna be looking into a wide angle and filter setup for the future. Keep the good stuff coming, I'm trying to plan my next day. Hope to see ya at the track soon! |

IWSTI Addict since: Aug 2004 Trader Rating: (4) | It was a nice feeling to actually see cars like the Cayman on the track and not just driven on public roads. Do banging the curbs slow down lap times? Thanks for the polarizing filter suggestion. I did use a wide angle for the first time in this video and I like the expanded view. Check out the Big Willow track day on MARCH 30: Track Day March 30 @ Willow Springs |

for banging the curbs, I would look at lap times and determine if it is worth it or not. I can tell from my data aquisition system that I get quicker sector times and faster exit speeds through the esses at Streets of Willow by banging the curbs, but different tracks would net different results. I'm checking my schedule for the big willow day, I might be able to make it. | |

IWSTI Addict since: Aug 2004 Trader Rating: (4) | I let my friend with a Evo VIII borrow my camera that day too. I think he was chasing a Chrysler Crossfire. http://www.hpdedriver.com/media/vide...6bw-chrisf.wmv |

IWSTI Addict since: Apr 2005 Trader Rating: (0) | Was that an SRT-8 version of the Crossfire? I don't see how the normal Crossfire could possibly run with the Evo. I thought the Crossfires suspension was supposed to be very soft with a lot of body roll. |

IWSTI Addict since: Aug 2004 Trader Rating: (4) | It was the Crossfire SRT-6. Too bad they only made this car with a automatic transmission. From Car and Driver magazine: http://www.caranddriver.com/article....rticle_id=8311 "Blown, the V-6 makes 330 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque, a twistability increase of 81 pound-feet. And there are only 109 more pounds of curb weight (3220 in all) for the coupe to haul." "There's been considerable pumping up of the Crossfire's suspension as well. The spring rates have been stiffened almost 50 percent in the front and 42 percent in the rear, and jounce and rebound rates in the shocks have been firmed up to match. The front brake rotors grow 1.2 inches to 13.0, and the rear discs go vented and get another 0.9 inch of diameter." Last edited by SubyFi; 03-08-2006 at 09:00 AM. |
