Check out this site. It has alot of info on the 997 turbo.

Get the GT2 if they bring it over here...the GT3 pales in comparison. Especially if you're at any kind of altitude. My buddy's GT3 feels really tame up here - he and another GT3 owner/driver were getting lapped consistantly by STi's, EVOs and 996 turbos at the track.

Sometimes it sucks being up here because I don't get to see what N/A cars are truly capable of. The quickest sure-thing is to get anything forced-induction up here. So please disreguard my comments if you're at sea level.

I agree the GT2 is the better car. I always liked the look of the GT2 better than that of the GT3. We all know about their performance. The car is probably gonna be way over the price of the GT3.

^ well most on the porsche forums will agree the GT3 > GT2 the GT2 is sweet no doubt but the GT3 is sub $110,000 and is so pure. Yeah your altitude sucks for a N/A engine but remeber lapping days do not equal "racing" and should not be considered a measure of a car by any level - its all about driver skill!

Anyway, I love GT3's my dad is on the list for one and probably will get the 997 gt3 when it comes out.

Great videos... I'm still wiping my chin.
If there's a vehicle I'd want is a GT3 stripped down to Cup specs. Street legal with ungodly handling performance. As AndrewSS has mentioned, most Porsche enthusiasts would take a GT3 and upgrade the suspension, rather than spend the money on a GT2. I have some experience working with all models of 996s(except GT2). On street, Turbo with X50 package is the beast (I have yet to drive a vehicle with such pull); however, on track GT3 would own the Turbo in track times. Performance difference does not warrant the price difference between GT3 and GT2. Besides, 996 GT3 Cup is one of the best factory race cars out there. It could be different for the 997s; we'll have to wait `til the GT2 comes out.

Once again, thanks for the great videos. Porsche outdid themselves once again. I love that they went back to the round headlights; the slant lights on the 996 is the only issue I had with the model.

Yeah, I noticed that after I had posted this. Saw it on svtperformance.com.

We own a 996 GT3, it is an insane car. We participate in many porsche events and autocrosses. Most hardcore porsche people definitely agree that the GT3 is the pure, raw car. The GT2 is one awesome car, but it is not in the same league as the GT3. The GT2 is more of a supercar, I would say, with tons of torque and a huge price tag. I've seen both run at tracks and have driven our GT3 at the track. There is no way an STi or an EVO would be lapping me while I race the GT3. It would be possibly with tons of mods, but my STi no where compares to the GT3 in any way stock for stock. And I've raced against 996 Turbos as well, they haul ass in the straights, but the weight difference is obvious in the corners. In the GT3, the turbos would pull away slightly in the straights at Road America, enough to make me mad, haha, but I would always catch them in the corners. On smaller tracks, like Gingerman and Blackhawk, we were running with turbos and passing them. We belong to a country club in Illinois called Autobahn Country Club, that is where I watch most of these cars run, but I have seen GT2's and GT3's run up at Road America too. Just my info from being a Porsche freak too.
