I watched Back to the Future parts I and II last night !

I think everyone needs to get over themselves.

2000gt4.6, you mention how much more expensive the STi is and yet you also say your on your 3rd tranny. Just thought I'd point that out . (I'm not trying to bash you, it's just an observation.)

If I were to do a all out dragstar it would definaly be an old super beetle. The look on everyone's face as they watch a "lil ole beetle" pop a wheelie and then click off a sub 11 second run is pricless.

Most RWD owners(Including myself) are not running slicks or even drag radials on the street. To me, AWD is superior on the street where conditions are less than optimal. AWD has better traction under most conditions and rocketing out of a corner with AWD is a lot of fun. Even if equipped with Nitto DRs, you won't hook up as well on the street as the track. I've seen and been in too many circumstances to think otherwise. At Drag Strip, I DON'T doubt that a prepped RWD car with slicks/drag radials can launch as well as an AWD car. I would expect them to. As far as autocross or circuit racing, it depends on the track. Hard to say which one is superior. My Supra gets beat almost every time on the street from a stop(When a friend drives my STI) and it has over 400rwhp vs the STIs 260awhp. I attribute that to the AWD launch. The lead doesn't last long, but the AWD launch is no joke.

It's pretty much stock.

About the street tires comment...it'd be scary to drive my car with street tires on it. I don't know anyone with a high powered RWD vehicle w/o a set of DR's for DD.

I just get tired of the guys with AWD thinking it's superior, in well, anything..... I guess it's awesome in the snow.

I really need to find this guy again and go for round 2 on a warmer day, with passengers in both cars. If I can find him again, will get a few runs in, and we can settle once and for all this post.

Please take into consideration that I had a TERRIBLE launch. I am not saying I can outlaunch him on the street, but I definatly think I could do alot better. I think on a warm day with a little race prep my car would do much much better

BTW, I know 98 from the mustang forums. I think I can kinda see where this is going (call out) and you better have some major numbers before you go down that road.

Edit: On the tranny thing, I am on number 3, but number 2 was a rebuild. I have a sneaky suspesion that I got ripped off on a cheap rebuild. Number one recived far to much of a beating by me, I honestly had no idea how bad it is to powershift a t-45 constantly

The new TKO would probably take all the powershifting I could give it, but I am a wuss when it comes to spending another 1800 bucks on a trans. That really hurt the pocketbook and my midsummer (last) blower plans.

Haha it wasnt a call out, it was more like a warning, hes a mod.

Thatd be cool if you could run him again on a better day and try to figure out what his exact mods are. Its definitly a drivers race...

Burn off the tires until they smoke alot.

My nittos are not the greatest d/rs out there, but they also arn't suicide in the rain (alot are), and they last about 10K miles (alot last 4) if I take it easy. You really need to heat em up to hook well on the street.

I really really needed to heat my tires that night, but I am not sure anything could have overcome the frozen street.

We simply didn't have time though. I will not race on that street again. It is pretty straight, but there is a hill at the end, and occasional traffic. We had to roll out of the parking lot, stop, and then go.

Same basic chassis though. Im not trying to argue with you, just putting it out there for some of the more closedminded people here who cant look past their sti's. I think you understand where im coming from.

Yea, you really have to get Nitto's burning before they'll hook.

Your **** runs out man. Get another video for us, I guess to further prove your point. As if one wasn't enough. It's gonna be dangerous when you go F/I.

I'm not one of them. I love all cool cars including American cars that are cool. I came very close to buying a GTO but decided the STi would be a better ax platform. If I was just buying a daily driver the GTO would have had one hell of a car. I am also thinking of puting together an AI car with Maximum Motorsports full road racing suspension. Can't see myself in a danty Spec Miata, though they are a great car and offer great racing. Hard to ingnore the roar of a big V8. I still contend that the FC500R is more than a few basic changes, but I don't want to argue.

Yea youre right, but at the end of the day its still a mustang.

I was in the same boat as you about a year ago. I was real close to buying a spec miata, and at the last second backed out. Instead i picked up an 01 mustang gt that was a bondurant school car. It only had 20 hours on it, and lets just say it was the buy of the century. Thanks ebay!

Anyways the car already had a fire system, fuel cell, 6pt cage, recaro pole positions, and countless upgrades to the suspension/drivetrain, basically everything i needed.

I dont know how serious you are about it, or if you would be intrested in a car like this at all, but if you are watch ebay cause every once in a while one pops up, and i personally dont think you can buy a better track prepped car for the price.

Do you know if the guy did any more work to his STI (upgraded turbo, etc)? That would be an interesting race.
