But remember your going to have wheelspin with a rwd while the STI with AWD will launch to a lead. Those numbers of the STI (280-320whp & 310-360wtq) is with a stock bottom end also.

Cool cars are cool cars. Everyone go get a beer together. Most V8's can be modded pretty easily. Turbo cars can get alot of bang for the buck. STi is a mean weapon on a ax or road course. AI cars are pretty sweet too. Everyone hug.

I do like the awd on the street, but I hope you are not thinking you are gonna outlaunch a well setup RWD car on the track.

Even with MT d/rs I have seen plenty of guys going 1.6 60's on pretty mild RWD v8s.

Anyways, this is kinda getting off topic.

The STI should be able to get a slight advantage with the AWD. The GT's driver has to be almost perfect to not have some amount of wheelspin. While you work on a well steup RWD, we could be adding more power (upgraded turbo) and not worrying too much about traction.

I think ya need to get some concrete 60' times to compare.

But anyways it is not worth arguing over.

In your experience, what do the 4.6L GTs typically run and trap in the 1/4, on street tires? I'm curious as there are a TON of Mustangs around my area

Dead stock?? Anywhere from a 14.0 to a 14.3 with a 5speed and a decent driver (coupe).

The verts and autos are significantly slower. A auto vert would probably run something like a 14.4-14.7.

Alot of mustang drivers have a tough time getting off the line with the stock tires. I have seen alot of 60's in the 2.2 range lol.

Most will trap right around the 100 MPH mark, maybe a little faster. This is all of course dealing with the 99-04 only. The 05s are faster, and the 96-98 are ALOT slower.

Ever wonder why top fuel doesn't run AWD? It's called weight transfer. Foot floors gas pedal, weight shifts from the front of the car to the ass, car squats, you're gone. RWD dominates in the drag racing world, I don't care who you are. As for having to have a well setup RWD...how's having nothing done but a set of Nitto 555r's and going 1.6 short times...on a bone stock suspension and ****ty ass NITTO'S!

AWD is awesome! If you race in the rain/snow/gravel/mud.

Of course RWD is better for drag racing since they can put all the power to the back wheels when they get traction. RWD cars dont have to split the power to all 4 wheels and have more drivetrain loss. Most of those cars also have more top end power than the STI to catch up. But I am saying AWD should have a slight advantage off the line. Of course its going to depend on the driver.

Nice mustang btw, i have an 01 gt that is prepped for road course racing and i love it. Anybody that argues you cant make a stang handle as well as an sti, i own both, and my mustang outperforms the crap out of my sti in the corners

As I mentioned AWD will get more traction. RWD tend to have alot of wheelspin especially with a lot of horsepower. You can probably limit that wheelspin and thats why i said a slight advantage. But the RWD should catch and pass the STI depending on the power of both cars.

I'm assuming you've never been to the dragstrip...since you've never been to the dragstrip, I'm also assuming you never seen a RWD car launch on slicks, or hell, even a good set of DR's. There's no spinning. It ****s and gets.
