^^ Yeah, if there's flames, I thought it would have to have a turboback at least, thus Stage 2, and correct me if I'm wrong but I thought you had to be catless to shoot flames as well....

the video said catless exhaust, but that doesn't mean he had the EM to support it, in fact it says nothing about EM. Why the fuel pump though? Thats a worthless mod at that stage.

Even with stg 2 he would still shoot flames. I'm running a SZ55 with a list of supporting mods, including being tuned by Doug (Topspeed) and I still shoot flames!!! I think it has more to do with no cats more than anything else.

yeah, i agree.

it did seem as tho the sti was pulling on him on the one from a roll. but a first gear roll is pretty pointless in the sti since the gear is so short

Mustang with gears/headers/exhaust/cams .. I don't care how good a driver you are, once you shift to 5th in a Stg 2 STi you are going to get pulled hard. The STi driver didn't brake boost either, he should have pulled from the jump when they raced from a roll.

Cool vid thanks for sharing.

agreed - 5th gear stage 2 was ok, not enough to keep pulling, but after Doug from TopSpeed fooled with my car, 5th gear just might be the most fun gear to stomp on...

Default Hi :)

I found out someone posted the link on here of my vid, so I thought I would pop in and say hello.

To clear a few things up, my car makes 280 RWHP and 292 RWTQ (on a ****ty tune).

The STI guy was pretty cool, and a hell of a long way from a ****ty driver. He had a MEAN launch, and was powershifting every gear.

I refuse to powershift my car, as I am on my 3rd trans, and this last one cost dammed near 4k to get installed after all was said and done (clutch etc). The 5spds in these cars seem to really hate hard shifting, which is what killed the other 2. Thats why I went with the tremec TKO 500.

The reason I spin so long out of first is that its COLD here. Like 25 degrees this night rofl. And we raced in a ****ty spot, so you pretty much have to stop, line up, and go. No time for tire heating etc.

He would have gotten me here in the 1/4 mile, but I am pretty confident I could get him at a track. My launch was one of the worst I have ever gotten in a street race, and after I got into 4th I would really start reeling him in.

The guy was pretty cool, and he even let me drive it. I was very impressed with what little was done the car ran so well.

On the other hand, I paid 16K for mine, and he paid 34K~ for his

Also, not to make a ton of excuses, but I didn't put in the video that he didn't have anyone in the car, and I have a 225 pound camera man. They claim every 100 pounds equals .1 in the 1/4, so I am looking at .225 off my 1/4 mile time.

And WTF are you supposed to do in a race, honk 3 times and then wait till he starts pulling away?? How is that a punk move?? We agreed to punch it on the 3rd honk, and I spaced em pretty even. Hell, he had 1/2 a car on me when we started anyway. And in any case, even with that killer launch on me, I was able to pull him in on the top end. After he shifted into 4th I was putting it on him HARD till we let out. Him pulling on me in 5th would be impossible as the car sits now. My camshafts make power right up till I reach the RPM limit of the stock bottom end

On the tune thing, I have no idea. He said the car was untuned. He also said he was making like 1.5+ more pounds of boost than stock. Said something like 16 pounds??

Hell guys, give me a break. On a cold night, with a 225 pound disadvantage, a car with 260 stock flywheel horsepower was able to reel him in. Hell, in "power" mods (**** I didn't change for the upcoming blower) I only have about 3-4K in it, and most of the stuff I did is just to make more power when the boost comes on.

ANYWAYS, major props to the STI. If I was gonna get this style of car, I would defintaly go with the STI.

He didn't pull at all on me from a roll. At one point, he SLIGHTLY started to pull, but that quickly disapeared when he got into 4th.

Listen to the video closely, and you can hear in the roll race that I didn't run 2nd gear all the way out to redline. I do that **** when I get excited sometimes.

Still, the cars were pretty much dead even from a roll until he got into 4th. But it was all over after that, no chance he was coming back.

Sorry I couldn't get a race all the way to his 6th gear, but we were doing 100+ in the suicide lane on a ****ty street.

BTW, sorry to triple post, but I wanted to adress the guys saying **** about the novel of mods.

The STI has 1 intake bolton, and pretty much a full exhaust (seriously, is putting on a new exhaust manifold common on your cars?) .

The GT has full exhaust, intake boltons (which add **** on a N/A car), u/d pullys (5-6 RWHP optimistically, got em as a christmas present), gears, and a set of cams.

So over him, the only real work I have done is the camshafts. And even brand new, this is once again comparing a mid level 25K car to a top of the line 34K car.

The STI driver was cool, complemented me on my car etc, and I did the same to him. Most of you on here seem alright, but there is no reason to be dickheads.

BTW, like I said, this is all pretty much prepwork for the blower. 420 RWHP and high 11s (on drag raidals) is only about a month away
