| Senior STI Driver Feedback Score: 0 reviews | I watched Back to the Future parts I and II last night !I think everyone needs to get over themselves. 2000gt4.6, you mention how much more expensive the STi is and yet you also say your on your 3rd tranny. Just thought I'd point that out . (I'm not trying to bash you, it's just an observation.)If I were to do a all out dragstar it would definaly be an old super beetle. The look on everyone's face as they watch a "lil ole beetle" pop a wheelie and then click off a sub 11 second run is pricless. |

IWSTI Addict since: May 2005 | Most RWD owners(Including myself) are not running slicks or even drag radials on the street. To me, AWD is superior on the street where conditions are less than optimal. AWD has better traction under most conditions and rocketing out of a corner with AWD is a lot of fun. Even if equipped with Nitto DRs, you won't hook up as well on the street as the track. I've seen and been in too many circumstances to think otherwise. At Drag Strip, I DON'T doubt that a prepped RWD car with slicks/drag radials can launch as well as an AWD car. I would expect them to. As far as autocross or circuit racing, it depends on the track. Hard to say which one is superior. My Supra gets beat almost every time on the street from a stop(When a friend drives my STI) and it has over 400rwhp vs the STIs 260awhp. I attribute that to the AWD launch. The lead doesn't last long, but the AWD launch is no joke. Last edited by garrettjj; 02-21-2006 at 10:56 AM.. |

It's pretty much stock. About the street tires comment...it'd be scary to drive my car with street tires on it. I don't know anyone with a high powered RWD vehicle w/o a set of DR's for DD. I just get tired of the guys with AWD thinking it's superior, in well, anything..... I guess it's awesome in the snow.

IWSTI Addict since: Feb 2006 | I really need to find this guy again and go for round 2 on a warmer day, with passengers in both cars. If I can find him again, will get a few runs in, and we can settle once and for all this post. Please take into consideration that I had a TERRIBLE launch. I am not saying I can outlaunch him on the street, but I definatly think I could do alot better. I think on a warm day with a little race prep my car would do much much better BTW, I know 98 from the mustang forums. I think I can kinda see where this is going (call out) and you better have some major numbers before you go down that road. Edit: On the tranny thing, I am on number 3, but number 2 was a rebuild. I have a sneaky suspesion that I got ripped off on a cheap rebuild. Number one recived far to much of a beating by me, I honestly had no idea how bad it is to powershift a t-45 constantly The new TKO would probably take all the powershifting I could give it, but I am a wuss when it comes to spending another 1800 bucks on a trans. That really hurt the pocketbook and my midsummer (last) blower plans. Last edited by 2000gt4.6; 02-21-2006 at 03:02 PM.. |

My nittos are not the greatest d/rs out there, but they also arn't suicide in the rain (alot are), and they last about 10K miles (alot last 4) if I take it easy. You really need to heat em up to hook well on the street. I really really needed to heat my tires that night, but I am not sure anything could have overcome the frozen street. We simply didn't have time though. I will not race on that street again. It is pretty straight, but there is a hill at the end, and occasional traffic. We had to roll out of the parking lot, stop, and then go.
