I thought the same thing when I first saw how narrow the tires are, then I realized it's the aspect ratio of the screen. It was in widescreen and was squashed to fit a 4:3 screen.

V10s are doing 19,000 RPM as well - v10s are eclipsing 20,000 in testing, if not I remember seeing a minimum of 18,500 on speed when the indy GP was on because they were talking about how crazy the cars truely are.
I like watching this more than any other sport except supercross because the cars are so incredible even though they have so many rules imposed on them.
That engine was probably done after those burnouts, these cars get extremely hot at that RPM without extreme air flow - I remember vividly Takuma Satos(2004 happened a few times) car blowing up after it overheated after crusing low RPM on a yellow flag.

They've actually been over 20,000 RPM for a couple years now.

No they haven't. None of the V10's have revved higher than 19,500 rpm. The new V8's however are rumored to be reaching close to 21,000 rpm.

How about some proof to some of these claims? Either side? 19,500 RPM's or 20,000 RPM's thats still almost triple what my baby can do.

Just amazing!

there was an article in one of my latest Race Tech magazines about the new F1 V-8s turning some stoopid rpms, I think around 23-24,000... I'll try to scan the page when I get home in an hour...

... and the V-10, ~19,000rpm
