Thumbs up (o) Subarus on the Skidpad (and others) *46mb/8min*results included

I didn't feel like typing all this stuff again, so I cut and pasted it from my post on NASIOC.

We had a Skidpad School/Testing day recently, which included some pretty impressive cars and numbers. All the results are included on the video. I ended up getting stuck driving my wife's Oldsmobile Alero with stock suspension, which I thought was going to suck, but I posted some fairly impressive numbers for such an awkward car. The best part of the day was when the Porsche 908/02 ran. The car ran in a few endurance races in the late 60's, was in a DVD called Plastic Porsches, and (if I remember correctly) was previously owned by Nicki Lauda. Even though the car's technology is almost 40 years old, he still ended up beating everyone else who showed up. The video may be boring to some of you, but I know a few of you will really appreciate it. If you'd like to know what tires/setup someone is running in the video, just ask. My wife was running Hankook Ventus RSII z212's in 225/45/16 on her car.

Enjoy...

The Porsche did a 1.2g and the first STi did a 1.1g.

Not bad at all.

lol...that's what I like to hear. I think I might put (o) in the title of each of my video threads from now on, as long as no one thinks it looks too much like a boob.

That STi can be seen at www.SkuttleMotorsports.com. There's some pretty cool in-car and on-car videos of his STi there, too, including the "fun runs" we got to do at the end of the event (running half of the road course at full speed) and of his HPDE at Mid-Ohio Raceway. He's got Cobb Stage 2 w/high-flow cat, HKS coil-overs, Whiteline adjustable f&r sway-bars (IIRC), HKS Ti Cat-back, ~3 degrees camber , and Hoosiers. I may be forgetting something or just not aware of it.

The other STi (Pewter? Dark silver?) is debadged, dewinged, and has WRX foglights. It also has a 3" TBE w/stock muffler and I'm pretty sure he runs Hoosiers. I dunno if there's anything else done to it or not. The owner of the Porsche 908 did a ride-along with him and when they came back, he said "That's a really nice car...I thought it was going to be a piece of [explicit]."

lol...I thought about that, too, but I was trying to be a good sport about it

She's getting pretty good. Here's the [edited] results from the last autocross we went to. I'm Troy Morgan, don't flame the car . She's April Morgan. I was just trying to give you an idea of just how close she came to catching up to me at this last event. My car has Addco front and rear sway-bars, TRW progressive rate rear coils, front stb, polyurethane sway-bar bushings, 17" wheels, JET "stage 2" chip, intake, exhaust, Performance Friction brake pads, 2 more cylinders, and weighs about 200 lbs less...she has a PaceSetter ceramic coated header, AEM short ram intake, Performance Friction brake pads, and some stickier tires. And less experience lol.

I had a '95 Grand AM that I traded in for my STi... and now that I think about it, I really should have kept that car, especially since I didn't get very much on the trade. I'm gonna feel pretty dumb learning to autocross in an STi, and getting whooped on by people with their stock beaters.

Maybe I'll just have to convince my buddy to do some autocrossing too, and we can take turns learning on his girlfriend's Ford Escort wagon!! Then I could at least blame the car when I do horrible...

lol...just take it easy your first time out, and don't worry that some people may be able to say they beat your STi in a Golf Turbo Diesel. I beat Caleb in his STi the first time he came out, and now he finishes in the top 5. He just started earlier this year, too.
