lol this is my favorite quote from the whole thread.

"Rolling 5 to 60 MPH, 2005 WRX STI : 6.4 s
Rolling 5 to 60 MPH, 2005 Cobalt SS/SC : 6.2 s

0 to 60 MPH, 2005 WRX STI : 4.9 s (surely from a dig the STI is much faster, it's AWD)
0 to 60 MPH, 2005 Cobalt SS/SC : 5.9 s

The STI is 3308 pounds
The SS/SC is 2911 pounds

The STI is about 218 to 222 whp bone stock (make your own search)
The SS/SC is about 205 to 215 whp bone stock

So who has the better power to weight ratio ?"

ummm notice the whp section of this post.now this guy must really be an idiot when he says the cobalt ss puts down 215 whp when they only come with 210 hp from the factory.wouldnt 210hp from the factory translate to about 160-180 hp to the wheels? and the sti actually genereates about 240whp.gotts love haters.

they claim the cobalt is underrated from the factory(not unheard of) and have shown a few dynos to support that. but 208whp from an STi??? idiot.

Thats because they are underated, they are dynoing around 210-220whp stock. The srt-4 is the same way. rated at 230, but putting down 225-235whp stock. Too bad the cobalts don't have the torque like the srt-4's do.

Something just occured to me... this guy has a camcorder and claims that he talked to the owner of the STi afterwards. How come he doesn't have a video of said interview with maybe some engine shots proving that it was an STi?

Come on, everyone knows it wasn't an STI or if it was, it wasn't trying. I ran into a Cobalt SS. I was suprised at how quick it was, but it wasn't ANYWHERE in the same league as the STI, with just 1 driver in the car. Add 3 passengers in his car . . .

I can't blame the kid, he's young and excited about his car. Let him believe what he wants and if he ever runs into someone really trying, he'll be disappointed.
