and I think what wazazell ment with the pics is that the STi driver might be very crappy...if you run mid 15s in an STi yes a cobalt will run similar to that videa against you.

yeah, i was just showing another example of people who think their car is awesome because they "ran with an STi"... The people on that Probe forum were giving the guy props, someone even thought he beat the STi, when actually...
A) he still lost, both in time and from red lighting
B) The STi ran an uncommonly horrible time.. I'm pretty sure you hear him bog at the start

So yeah, a cobalt with a good driver probably could have run with the STi that raced the Probe... but beating an STi that ran 15.65 is nothing to brag about, and especially not if you lost.

AAAHHHHHH ok,i too was wondering where you were going with the pics you gave(flew str8 over my head). but yeah,i dont think any cobalt ss could really keep up with an sti in stock form.i watched a couple videos last night on streetfire and the cobalt was having problems with srt-4's and other cars in its range.

I must say from watching the video again, the STi driver doesn't know how to shift. Did you see how much momentum he lost during the shift?? If you're racing, you shift quick, no questions... Which all leads me to believe that he's probably a bad driver. Just my .02...

I'm kind of torn on the subject, as I've seen some of these races be very one sided in favor of the STi. At the same time I've seen 1 or 2 videos where the SS keeps up rather well. Who knows? However I would like to see a couple of vids, showing the STI walking the SS.

True. It comes down to what the CAR is capable of when it is driven to it's full potential. A stock Ford Probe or Cobalt SS is not going to run low 13's no matter who is driving. A man's got to know his limitations.

People just need to stop saying "I beat an STi" and say "I beat a horrible driver who happened to be in an STi"
