Also, it's extra weight, LOL Hold the wheel at 9&3. Put just your thumbs above the spoke of the steering wheel. At first it's bit strange but trust me it grows on you. I used to hold the wheel just as you did. By placing your hands at 9&3 you'll loosen your grip on the wheel. You were holding that wheel pretty hard often it appeared. The looser your grip the better you'll be able to "feel" the car and everything it's telling you. Lastly, dial the power to the rears and practice being on the throttle hard after you get done trailbraking. Roll into it but get on it quick and you'll seriously reduce your undertsteer. How many trackdays have you done? You looked very good going around the track, especially for being behind a car. That usually make people start missing turn ins and apexes. Great vid |

That was the first time I have driven the STi at Buttonwillow and only the second time at the track. I was sitting too far forward so that contributed to holding the steering wheel tight. I now have some schroth harnesses and I think that should also help. I think the computer can make better decisions about where the power should be applied, but perhaps I will give it a shot on the next track day and see whether its too much of a change for me. | |

It helps elliminate understeer so much you'll hate auto after that. Make sure you get on the gas aggressively though, or it won't work. Practice it on the circle on ramps. Light throttle=understeer, full throttle=car turns but not oversteer. How much wheelspin do you really encounter at the track? If your driving right, none. Kinda hard to get some I think. To make sure you don't get any just roll into the throttle. |

| www.Subie.tv is niiice | I dont get wheel spin. Most of the time oversteer is not really needed with camber and sway bars assisting along the way. I guess I trust the computer to apply the power where it needs to go better than I do myself. While I could put it all the way back, then if I need it the torque applied to the front, then I am SOL if I can't reach my dial to swing it back. I do it more out of safety & control than anything else. Since there is no prize for the fastest time, I am out to have a good time. Still, I will give it a shot and see how it feels different. |

Atleast not induced by the throttle. This ad is not endorsed by this member. Please register or login to hide this ad. |
